Frenkie De Jong

Fabrizio Romano

@FabrizioRomano Manchester United have made an opening proposal for Frenkie de Jong after talks started June 1. €60m plus €10m add-ons. 🚨🇳🇱 #MUFC Barcelona have turned down this opening bid - but clubs remain in contact. De Jong has never indicated his desire to anyone. He’s still waiting.

Finally some real movement from us in the market, hopefully the price doesn’t go up too much from that bid as there’s a lot of other work tk be done with the squad.

Still waiting for confirmation of the first bid from a genuine source like @thealpha24_ but he’s still busy chasing the Frankie story.

Why exactly are Barca willing to let him move on?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Besides the fact they need to cash in and don’t want to lose their la masia players?

Maybe they think they can cash in on a player who doesn’t want to be there, bit like why liverpools best player wants to leave right now.

Maybe he thinks ten Haag will play him in his preferred position/system like he said after the Holland game and is angling for the move?

Who knows.

Some people would ask why mane wants to leave Liverpool and why Liverpool are willing to sell him….is mane finished?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That was very bitey for an innocent question.

I’ve not seen him much since he joined Barca but he was a huge talent before he signed and is on the younger side for their midfield so was genuinely wondering why they are willing to let him move on.

I’d have thought they would look to sell others before him.

I read that we’re going for Bellingham, but next season not this one. Pretty sure he’ll have other options. No chance unless our first season is great under ETH and we make top 4.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah no ones getting Bellingham this summer, Dortmund won’t let him and Haaland go the same window.

We’ve been targeting him for next summer for a while now too, be interesting to see where he ends up.

I think a lot of the players they’d ideally let go of would be difficult to shift.

I think he’s bailed on for Liverpool imo.

Ten Hag is a genius really. Because of him Juve, Barca, Chelsea and United all got conned into spending lots of money on flop players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So it’s both encouraging that he is able to make players look better than they are, but also concerning he is trying to buy some of those players back again?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If he makes them look better than they are a second time, then perhaps that’s how good they really are, not just how good they look.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which would make Ten Hag not a genius. Paradox
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He makes them look as good as they are so they make him look as average as he isn't.

I think we have a great chance but i could just as easily see him move to a few clubs in England or to Madrid.

Big season this year i think

Yes! Interestingly, this was actually something that was said about him. Apparently he had a few signings he’d made from older clubs that didn’t really work out, but he was able to get a lot of players to raise their game and they’ve not been able to replicate with other managers/clubs.

Interesting. I haven’t seen tonnes of De Jong at Barca but do like what he brings.

I think Milinkovic-Savic would be the ideal midfield signing for you personally.
