Transfers

So city & lfc snap up haaland & nunez whilst we are apparently struggling to agree a few with Barcelona for de jong.

If that’s ten hag’s main target and we fail to deliver him then the club have failed the new manager already.

Does any club take as long to get transfers over the line as we do? My optimism for this season is dying already.

Props to United for ramping up the price on Nunez, with add ons you’re looking at €100m

Good value? you decide

I'd love them to be wrong but over the last five years or so Liverpool have a great track record at identifying players who are both high quality and a good fit for what they require.

Yep. And even if Darwin does have technical deficiencies, he'll still score goals galore. Jota isn't exactly Zidane-esq in his technique.

I've never seen Nunez so can't comment on him but Jota is a very technically good player with great close control and quick feet... He's not Zidane (who is?), but I'm not sure using Jota to make the point about a player's technical skill versus goal output quite works!

Id have thought Nunez's compatriot Cavani would better make the point.

Our first competitive game is almost 8 weeks away as yet. The tantrums from some of our fanbase is quite honestly ridiculous.

It's the 13th of June.

By the standards of elite PL players, he really isn't particularly good technically. His first touch often lets him down, his passing is erratic etc. There's a reason his assist stats are so poor, even though he plays in a fluid front 3 for a top team.

Not going to argue though, I've seen him play often enough to know that he's exceptionally hard working, good at getting into goal scoring positions, can finish and is strong in the air. But also that his all round game is far less impressive.

City and Liverpool are clearly going to be in a league of their own again next season sadly.

We just have to make sure we are heading back in the right direction and try to aim to be the best of the rest. We dropped an awful lot of points last season against the bottom 8 clubs. This needs to stop. We need to start being ruthless and getting those games won early doors.

If Liverpool lose Mane then even with Nunez I do not see them as stronger. Origi also left.

What happens with Salah also important. Even if he stays, if he doenst sign a new deal will he be at the races or will his 2022 form continue?

I reckon Nunez get 20 goals all comps this coming season.

As for the technical deficiencies in his link up play, which suddenly seem de rigueur about him at the moment, Mane got 2 assists in 47 Prem and CL appearances last season.

£100m for 20 goals in all comps? Could just play Origi every week and he’d get that many

I doubt it. His best season was 11 in 43 games.
