Most Exciting Signings In EPL History...

End of season riff-raff and all that. Nothing else to really talk about SO....

Who are some of the most exciting signings in EPL history? They don't have to have worked out by the way!!!

Who is the MOST exciting signing in EPL history?

Already a City fan on a Haaland thread has labelled him as the most exciting, which I strongly disagree with, but for me my top 3 is:

1) Rooney to Man United in 2004

We all saw what he did at Euro 2004 that summer, he was the best player in the tournament, and his potential literally seemed limitless. Early on he was a lot more like dynamite... dribbling past players at pace and scoring goals; it genuinely seemed like he had everything, I know he didn't necessarily stay that way (did Fergie coach it out of him) but f**k me were we all excited that day when we got him. Thanks Newcastle by the way for forcing our hand!

2) Veron to Man United in 2001

May I stress I said most exciting signings, by no means do I mean most successful. I was over in Malaga when the news started breaking that he was joining and it seemed like we were going to make the EPL a monopoly. Our third title on the spin had been secured in April and when Veron joined it just seemed like we'd keep on winning it! Cheers Arsenal!!! Funnily enough I remember speaking to one of my mates back home who said Veron had been signing United shirts outside McDonalds in Broadheath (now called Altrincham) retail park. That was before anything official was announced, but then I knew we'd got him.

3) Robinho to Man City 2008

I don't like City and I think it's fair to say that everyone knows it, but good God was it exciting when they got him. I suppose this is a bit different because it was everything that went with it wasn't it? We all woke up that morning and the news broke out of nowhere that suddenly City were the richest team in the world and could afford anybody. I almost remember thinking it was a prank, until I turned on SSN ! I had a lot of City mates at the time and we all got together to watch transfer deadline day live refusing to believe they were signing Robinho. Was he going to Chelsea? No. City had major money now and he was going there, wasn't he?? We just had to wait and then at about 8pm or 9pm they announced they'd got him and it was pandemonium outside both the Etihad and in Chorlton where I was. Great times to be fair. Oh we got Berba that day too but Robinho stole it.

My most exciting transfer is Rooney to United. It's close though, Robinho nearly pips him but I would say Rooney because we KNEW he'd be good. Robinho on the other hand faced the old 'will he be able to do it on a cold night in Stoke' question marks.

What say you??

From a Spurs point of view;

Klinsmann the first time
Rafael Van Der Vaart
Ginola

Rooney more exciting and a better footballer at the time than Haaland

Not sure Rooney was better at 17 than Haaland is now? Pretty close I suppose!

He was. Haaland is a goalscorer, he doesn't have the same flair or 'wow factor' that 2004 Rooney had. We'd have won that tournament if he didn't get injured.

Jack Grealish turns 27 soon. Just thought I'd throw that in there. 1 goal for England. £100m.

Although England doesn't have any goals for England this year other than a Kane dive pen.

Lol that list 😂
Haaland transfer is way more important and a bigger global transfer than Rooney. Not even close. Haa land has proven himself in several league's and CL, breaking scoring records for fun. Rooney f*sted a granny and scored a world in against Arsenal 😂

Haaland is most desirable striker in the world with Mbappe. Sure he cost 250m in wages plus 50m agent fee but that shows how elite he is.

Veron. ..😂....oh my....I foot how mental red nose went everyone someone reminded him how awful that signing was lol proper stank the place out. When u think his fee back then has to be one of the worse ever transfers, up there with Grealish/Lukaku.

Robinho was big just cos he didn't realise what club he was joining and city were 5hit.

Rooney 😂 at least u man u fans haven't lost your sense of humour

Veron to utd was a massive 1 at the time. Probs the best midfielder on the planet. I honestly thought it was the signing that killed all hope for others. How wrong I was.

Sheva to chelsea and torres to chelsea also have to be up there in terms of proper blockbuster moves.

I also cr@pped it a bit when utd signed di maria but that turned out even worse than veron.

From my own teams point if view we never really sign that ready made superstar. The biggest we have probably signed in my time was thiago.

Torres to Liverpool was quite an exciting one. Felt like the first time in years that 'Pool were getting a proper striker.
