Don't get this

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61795955

"There are no meetings between the Premier League's so-called 'big six' on weekend of 12-13 November - the one before the World Cup - following a request by the Football Association."

Can anyone provide some rationale here? Because I'm really not seeing any.

He was talking about Sancho and Rashford. Maguire is nailed on to start, Shaw probably just needs a bit of form and fitness to get straight back in.

Yeah I know. Though Shaw is the one whose effort levels I question as much as anybody's. Maguire's effort is never in doubt, he's just shiiiite

Surely there's more chance of getting injured against the so called lesser clubs who set up to defend against the better clubs?

There's no way clubs will be resting players because they're going to the World Cup either.

FIFA will be leaning on the FA to not have the biggest 'stars' injured so they are fit for their 'showpiece'. Not sure the stats would back that up but the diddy clubs should be up in arms about it.

Sounds about right. It’s all rigged anyway.

We don’t need to rely on Southgate’s words to incite effort anyway.

My point is more regarding how many players we’ll actually have playing at the world cup. It’s not going to be that many, which could benefit us in the second half of the season.

Ronaldo, Maguire, Fred and maybe Shaw and Bruno are the only players likely to play significant minutes in the competition.

Does it really matter?

Tuchel and Klopp will rest their German players.
Pep & Arteta will rest their Spanish players.
Conte will rest his Italians.
Viera will rest his French.
And Moyes will field a full strength team

Epic fail - Italy never qualified

Fack it he'll probably give them a holiday anyway.

Think this might incentivise the 'smaller' clubs to put in a bigger perform on this week? Few upsets?

Maybe it’s not just to do with injuries but also ‘harmony’ in the England camp.

Don’t really want Grealish diving to win a pen vs Trent or Henderson and it all kicking off the week before the WC starts.

Tbf that would have Southgate written all over it. Can we all just be nice to each other lads…? Ronaldinho smiled all the time and look how good a footballer that made him…?
