No need to panic

Below are all the incoming deals completed by Premier League clubs in the current transfer window.

Darwin Nunez [Benfica - Liverpool] £64m
Diego Carlos [Sevilla - Aston Villa] Reported £26m
Erling Haaland [Borussia Dortmund - Manchester City] £51.2m
Fraser Forster [Southampton - Tottenham] Free
Marquinhos [Sao Paulo - Arsenal] Undisclosed
Matt Targett [Aston Villa - Newcastle] £15m
Patrick Kelly [Coleraine - West Ham] Undisclosed
Rasmus Kristensen [RB Salzburg - Leeds] Undisclosed
Robin Olsen [Roma - Aston Villa] Undisclosed
Ivan Perisic - [Spurs] - Free Transfer
Phillip Coutinho - [Barcelona - Aston Villa] £18m
Boubacar Kamara [Aston Villa] - Free Transfer
Brendan Aaronson [RB Salzburg - Leeds United] £12m
Fabio Carvalho [Fulham - Liverpool] £5m
Hee-chan Hwang [RB Leipzig - Wolverhampton Wanderers] £15m

Only 15 transfers in total, three of which are free transfers, two making loan moves permanent. A third of these deals involve one club (Aston Villa).

There really is no need to panic about United not having signed anyone. Although, in the words of Tony Soprano, more is lost by indecision than wrong decision.

15m for Matt Targett the biggest rip off yet.

You don't even seem to have bid for anyone yet, lots of teams are at least reported to be in negotiations and although it is early days, United needed to be proactive in this window.

It's been reported that we've bid once for De Jong.

I'm not saying we're great at transfers but one of the reasons we look like we're dawdling, when possibly we're not, is because stories about United probably gain the most clicks.

For all we know the interest in FDJ, for example, could be genuine but we've decided to let it run because the closer we get to the end of June the more desperate Barca will be to sell for a decent price. We've moaned for ages about being shafted so let's see how this pans out first before judging the new regime.

I predict we will see FDJ coming to United and then we'll see quite a few other smaller transfers happenings quickly. I'm thinking the likes of Timber and Antony.

Completely agree. I blame the FIFA generation who think transfers are like career mode where you can sign someone in seconds.

There is your Tony Soprano quote that aligns most with your club these days.

You can do a transfer in a day but certainly a week is a reasonable timeframe.

United dragging their heels while the other sides get on with it.

On the subject of the Haaland transfer fee, slightly annoying that the fee will go down as just £51m instead of the real cost.

Nothing much different to the Pogba transfer from Juve to United. The size of that fee was largely down to the agents fees (around £27m) written into the contract Pogba had signed with Juventus. Juve wanted a clear £60m.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fee is low cos the player and the agent are getting the $

250m over his contract and 30-50 agent fee. Earning over 15m more a year than Nunez. Haaland isn't the bargain he is made out to be.

Yeah, still a real possibility. It isn’t that often that Pep is so gushing about a player.

But he is twice the player Nunez is, so the sums add up.

According to the Swiss Ramble link,

Haaland is £193m over the course of his contract (5 years).

£26m in agents fees

And earning £12m more than Nunez per year.

All of your figures are incorrect according to Swiss Ramble, but your point does remain. It’s only really the fee itself that is a relative bargain.

(Nunez, if all add-ons are reached (and two of the three add-ons are for 10 appearances and then 60 appearances, totalling £12.8m) will cost £144m in total for the duration of his contract (six years)

He is unreal so was always going to command a hefty package. I just think it's funny point to the 50m fee like it's a steal, and suggests any PL team could afford him, when in fact only a couple of teams in the world had a chance.

When u add an extra year to haalands deal he is still way more than Nunez, and understandably so.
