Xhaka could easily / should definitely have already been booked in this game for a borderline red card foul - many Arsenal commentators voiced their frustrations (and bewilderment at how he ‘got away with it&rsquoat the time, as we’d been cruising when the incident occurred.

Therefore, if Xhaka were involved, or even aware of spot-fixing in this match, it would suggest he was doing his best to expose the corruption, rather than being party to it.

If anyone is involved it’ll have been the ref that day.

But as we all know that referees are definitely, definitely, definitely, probably not corrupt...

That would be amazing, if Xhaka knew about the fix and deliberately tried to sabotage the scheme by getting himself sent off early in the game.

I actually remember the foul Xhaka got away with in that game. The first thing I thought was "of course the ref lets him off when we're 4-1 up".

I remember thinking it was a blatant red, and was so surprised the ref let him off given how trigger happy they are with him.

I don't think betting on xhaka to get a yellow can ever be seen as suspicious...

Erm. If you actually watch it there's no way the ref couldn't give a yellow. It's almost 20 seconds to take a free kick on the halfway line while you're 4-1 up. Take your blinkers off.

It’s almost impossible Xhaka wasn’t involved.

The thing is, Arteta would have to be involved as well - what if Xhaka gets taken off with 20 mins to go?
