Levels, dude

Ok this may sound disjointed and it is, but it is only that because I have seen and read the stories, but have nothing bookmarked to be able to go back and Ctrl-V and Ctrl C the quotes or anything, but here goes:

It is being said that ENIC are now ready to bankroll big players transfers to Spurs, and back Conte big time and we are not talking about the injection of £150m either.

Since I have seen this, I hear now that from various sauce that Paratici is about to table a massive bid for Lautaro Martinez of Inter.
I think in the region of lose to £80m

I have found one of the sauces for the second story. Not yet for the first.

It seems there is a shift in the club coming right from the top, whether this is a result of the odd protests last season or not, remains to be proven.

However. music to the ears of the fans.

Could transform the transfer which is already been exciting to the next level....

Levels, dude

Are you really suggesting a change in policy based on a flimsy clickbait article on Spurs transfer plans? TT is absolutely abysmal. Don’t listen to a word of it.

You need to refine what can be regarded as a credible source, Morespurs, otherwise you’re just gonna be disappointed when these crazy suggestions are put there. Not a chance in hell we spend £80m on Martinez. Levy wouldn’t sanction it, his wages would also be astronomical and to be honest, neither Inter nor him want him to go.

There is absolutely nothing in this. Nothing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Again though - do we need to spend that much on one player - the answer is no.

What we needed was a plan that didn’t involve waiting to the last fortnight of the market and then seeing which sides are desperate and then low balling them.

Instead, we moved quick on Bissouma and brought in Perisic despite the interest of others.

We have clearly been trying for Bastoni but it won’t come off due to factors that are not Levy or money. Eriksen looks like he is heading this way as does Spence and we have striker and CB targets lined up.

Interested to know why people think we will not spend big on players.

As some have mentioned, modest spending so far with £25m the only fee paid, maybe about £20m on Spence and Eriksen for free.

Why will we have secured £150m cash injection to then not spend it. And if you think of some of the money we can raise through sales - Winks, GLC, Rodon, Bergwijn, Emerson - there is so sizable sums we can also recoup.

I get that Levy has had his fingers burned in the past. I still think that despite this cash injection we will have to sell, we cannot just buy and let others rot. So there will need to be players going out, not necessarily to raise funds as we have that but to ensure that the wages going forward are not crippling us. Those players listed above probably attract £250-300k a week minimum - Say £15m a season. I think Levy is happier spending the big sums that are talked of but will lose sleep about wasting millions in wages of unused players. Ultimately, players are assets and have a value and on the balance sheet that can have a positive impact despite their cost.

We will spend, but we won’t be doing it just for the sake of it. Additionally it doesn’t all need to be spent in one go.

I think it was a statement of intent to Conte - a very public easy to say, here are the funds, we are backing you.

Eriksen, from all relatively solid sauces, has made his choice, from United, Brentford and a return to Spurs.
He prefers London and wants to play in CL.

Draw your own conclusions/
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It would be good if he stayed at Brentford, nothing top do with Spurs or anybody else, just to show some loyalty to the only club that we prepared to take a gamble on him. It probably won't work that way but he wouldn't be in this position without Brentford.

Eriksen will realise more than most that life is short and a career can be over in a flash.

He needs to get out of it whatever he wants and needs and while I am sure he was grateful to Brentford does he really want to see out his time at the top battling relegation? probably not. That said i do not think he will have found it an easy decision and the funny thing is that I think he would be more likely to stay at Brentford than go to United There are a lot things that will pull him to Spurs, some at Brentford but probably not much at Utd, except money.

He has already repaid Brentford with excellent performances for the length of contract they were willing to give him at that point.

That’s the thing, Brentford didn’t give him a 3 year contract, they hedged their bets and went with 6 months - the risk you get with that is if it works out then you have no hold over the player.

Eriksen owes them nothing further as he helped them stay up with goal/assists and good performances

As if ENIC are really going to change, they know what they are doing and have played a blinder here, they have played many of the fans like a fiddle. They may be prepared to get deals done sooner these days, but they won`t be spending £80m on a single player.

We`ll see what our squad looks like at the end of the transfer window, but without doubt ENIC have been very clever and created a lot of positivity amongst the fans.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As if. The club really aren't playing anyone. They're not "leaking" things to the press. If even if they wanted to, they don't need to bother. There are enough people out there producing clickbait, which is all it really is and you're getting sucked in by it just as much.

I don't understand fans like you. It's constant whining and throwing in the towel as soon as we get a couple of bad results. We've made three good signings, who will improve our squad, and not spent much in the process. What's not to like about that? It's great business. And the club is a business. You seem to think Enic will only be credible if they blow £100m on a player. History tells us that big money signings flop more often than not. We should know that better than anyone.

We can all judge at the end of the window (which has only just opened) but based on the actually activity so far, you can't help but feel positive. If you're a proper fan that is and not one that is blinkered by his hate of the owners.

I think you'll find, Billy, that it is Conte and Paratici that have collectively created the positivity amongst the fans

Not ENIC.

Fans are more excited because they have seen Spurs identifying areas where we lacked quality and going after them. We have already got 3 players in the bag, in the right areas.

This is totally different from any of the windows I can remember.

Let's just reviews the market after it close, but so far I have to be positive from what I have seen: we've bagged Foster, Perisic and Bissouma.
Can't tell me those don't excite you a bit?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Paratici is the key. Conte is a serial spender who broke spending records at several of his previous clubs. Conte alone, there is no chance levy gives him a war chest. He has purchased some absolutely shocking players in the past. Drinkwater, morrata, batshuiyi, bakayako...that's just at Chelsea in a very short period of time.

Paratici is the important guy when it comes to buying players. Conte has a scattergun approach and I'm sure Levy had no intention of letting him loose with a cheque book on his own.

That's why I see defenders and mfs coming in. It's what's needed to kick on. Conte will sign Erikson and perisic til next year, then he will expect another 200m. Going to be interesting to see how Levy keeps Conte in check. He will sign some players now he will know, and almost expect, to be able to replace in the next year or two, to get the highest calibre of players.

I say it how it is pal, 20 years of ENIC has produced 1 paltry League Cup and endless years of mugging the fans off, so forgive me for feeling a tad cynical.

Yes, I am no Levyista like many, and these rumours about a £150m cash injection have obviously been put out there to show some ambition to Conte and the fans.

We will wait and see what out squad looks like at the end of the window, and I will be the first to hold my hands up and praise ENIC, but nobody will be surprised if we are left short again.

I also don`t whine and throw the towel in after a couple of bad results pal, I do however moan about ENIC every season and their clear lack of sporting ambition, I have every right to and their record of silverware compared to profit is non existent.

Levy is a master at pulling the wool over the fans eyes, some fans are gullible enough to fall for it, and some are not.

And guess what, history tells us that the clubs that make big money signings and have complete squads full of quality players, almost always hoover up all the trophies.

But I`m sure you would rather not sign big players for big money, in case they flop . ENIC will be credible when they deliver this football club silverware commensurate with the highest ticket prices in world football.

I don't disagree that Enic have made many mistakes but they've also got a lot right, particularly recently.

Funding and building a new stadium is near on impossible and they did it, securing the clubs future for years to come. Not even Chelsea could manage it with Romans billions.

On the field we've got a world class coach, some of the best players in the league and finally a scouting system that might actually be working. Time will tell.

Yes, that all needs to deliver now, and I'm not saying we'll definitely win anything. I think a lot rests on our players and some have let the club down far more than Levy when it mattered. The point I was making is that this is all positive though and Levy seems to be removed from football making decisions which is even more positive. I don't understand why you're still moaning before a ball has even been kicked. Maybe it's just because pessimistic people do my nut in! Maybe you'd rather be in United's position? Or Arsenal?

And of course I want us to sign the best players but I'd prefer we built a team rather than jizzing it on some overhyped superstar. Let's see what happens. It can't be any worse than where we were at the start of last season.
