To be fair Jose wasn’t criticized for his thoughts he was criticized for making them public.

It was good. It is hard to beat these current crop of US Golfers as they are so good at putting.

He was more right about rashford than any of the others judging by the past 2 years.

Even I figured that one out. Way before Jose.

Jose's philosophy and the club's didn't align—it was always doomed to failure.

I think Joses instincts are generally right. He knows what it takes to build successful teams and what he has generally called out is not players abilities but their attitudes and their application.

All those players in that list have proven to under performed for these reasons. Whether they are mentally weak or just too big headed or just lazy.

I think the problem with Jose is how he deals with it, and this reflects his own flawed personality....as well, I believe, as a failure to adapt to modern footballers and their precious mindset. Jose a little bit more old skool, upsetting the modern player who doesn't like being shouted at. Jose's ego then sees him air these things publicly to deflect blame from himself.

Well he was absolutely spot on, regardless of whether you think he should of said it or not.


Rashy was a Jose favourite, but if you look at his career goal return, he isn't wrong about him being a main striker.

I've seen this list going around Twitter, but instead of the Shaw bullet point, there's one about McTominay, which I've added below:

• Pogba is a virus, not a team player.
• Martial is lazy and needs to leave the club.
• Rashford can't be Man United's main striker.
• Luke Shaw doesn't use his head.
• McTominay is the club's greatest asset.

If we take all of these together, I think it's a mixed bag. On Pogba, everyone who works with him says he's a very positive and professional presence behind the scenes, and he has been a team player in more coherent and successful teams than United. We have certainly failed him as much as he failed us.

Martial - pretty much agree. But again, with better coaching you'd imagine he'd have developed better than he did.

Rashford - may well be true, but you can hardly say history has vindicated this idea, because he has barely been used as a central striker. We could only assess the veracity of that claim if he had been coached to be a central striker and regularly played in that position. The disappointing performance levels of the last couple of years have been in the context of playing as a wide forward.

Shaw - main problem has been injuries and being slow to get into form when coming back. When playing well, for instance in 2020-21 when he was a good shout for our player of the season, there were no questions about his intelligence.

McTominay - I would dispute he is the club's greatest asset.

We have certainly failed him as much as he failed us.
