Transfers - what do we need ?

So, for me the transfer window will be shortly moving into the business end, where clubs start to look at what they have / should have pinpointed as their "essential" targets.

Spurs have, as we should all agree, made an excellent start, being very non Spursy by bringing in three quality signings early door.

So, if we assume Conte wants his "essential" positions filled by the time of the South Korean tour, which I believe is around mid July, that gives Spurs around three weeks to achieve that.

Whilst it appears to have gone a bit quite for Spurs in the market since the Bissouma purchase, and some of the media suggested targets over the last couple of weeks, have, as usual, been just dumb, with about three weeks to the tour, what positions / specific players do we think are classed as minimal "essential"

For me, taking into account our published transfer kitty, coupled with some funds gained from outgoings ( winks, Bergwijn, possibly Reggie ) a successful window would be quality coming in in the following positions:

RWB
LCB
Attacking CM

Really couldn't care less what other PL clubs are doing in the market, and would be more than happy with those three positions being filled over the next three weeks.

Anyone else see it differently ?

We still need a LCB, RWB, AM and CF as a minimum. We may need another CB and forward depending who leaves

Everton have till the 30th to sell players cos of FFP, we’re gonna pull their pants down
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I read that and thought Everton are fecked but then I read the source was The Athletic, so I’d take it with a pinch of salt.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The thing with player sales & FFP is that "Profit on Player Sales" only registers in the positive if what they sell for is more than the players 'book value'. Their book value is amortised so if bought for £50m, like Richarlson, then their vale reduced over the length of their contract. So £50m over a 5 year deal = Richarlson bought in 2018, now has a book value of £10m, so anything they get more than that is deemed as profit. So if they sold for £50m, then this deal would register as a £40m profit on player trading, which makes a big difference to their profit/loss account and thus FFP.

Accounts are usually produced for the period up to the end of May or June, so if they really need to make this years figures stack up then need to get a deal in the books before the end of the month. To avoid FFP (UEFA & PL) sanctions they may well be better selling him this month for less, than getting more in July.

No doubt Levy will be all over their financial records and have devised an appropriate strategy...it gets him hard

Why would they sell Gordon and buy Winks? Gordon has Potential, winks is meh.

no chance we get Gordon though, they desperately need money but they still initially wanted about £20m too much for Richarlison

That doesn’t make sense unless you’re going to pay a fortune for Gordon, isn’t Winks valued at £20m? They’d sell Mina and Gomes first I reckon.
