… that it took just one training session for ETH to hijack the Malacia to Lyon deal? 😹
Hopefully after a week he does the same with the right back ones too
How bad are our left back options…

Who ever scouted Telles should be shot. Never have I been so underwhelmed by someone who was supposed to be good in attack and is shocking at basic defending.

Agreed. Brighton bought Cucurella for around the same price and he’s 5 or 6 years younger than Telles.

Speaking of our scouts
I'm very surprised we haven't been linked with 21 year old Irish international CB Nathan Collins
Not a RB but could do a job there if needed
A host of PL clubs are looking to sign him
About time we had some Irish blood back in the squad
He's a talented lad got rave reviews in the last set of internationals capped off with a world class goal against Ukraine
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The lad looks the real deal. He doesn’t have an obvious weakness. Quick, strong and good in possession.
Hard to know what’s best for him in the immediate future. Stay at Burnley for a season where he’ll be first choice and can learn from Kompany or move back to the PL?
Could we negotiate a cheaper price if we agreed to let him go back on loan for a season?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No sure what money Burnley would be looking for but for around 20-30 mill it would be a no brainer given his age and obvious potential.
The type of player Fergie would have been all over back in the day

£30m for a player with so few starts at senior level isn’t a no brainer.

Yes it is, it's brainless

Fair enough that 30 mill is on the excessive higher end of my valuation. We live in an era of crazy transfer fees so difficult to predict what players will go for.
But my point still stands regarding the lad
he's going to be smashing player imo

We’ve been burnt before with signing players that haven’t played much at senior level for big money. I think the last thing we need is an inexperienced centre back.

Darren we've been burnt left, right and center with all sorts of signings and contracts these last 9 years but I take your point.
He is inexperienced, 14 Pl appearances last season with Burnley and 30 odd championship appearances with Stoke, but highly rated as shown by the number of clubs sniffing around him and which will impact on his transfer fee.
Like I said I think he's worth a punt. It will be interesting to see how he progresses
BTW Smalling only had about 12 senior appearances for Fulham before Fergie signed him

Yeah and he didn’t cost that much. I just don’t think it’s a good use of our resources right now. I’m sure we’ll have an eye on him, and if he’s good enough in the future then maybe we’ll make a move. I’m generally against signing cb’s that are young, unless they are blatantly outstanding. It’s one position where having a player in their prime is so important.
