Alioski on a free

Alioski has terminated his contracted in Saudi Arabia after his team got relegated. He contributed to 40% of there goals last season and is out of contract.

Not a fan of going back for ex players, but this is one I'd be all over. Instant PR boost, big lift for the fans and a decent player who can cover multiple positions for FREE.

Anyone on here that would be against Alioski coming back? No brainer for me, give him a year!

"He contributed to 40% of there goals last season"

I wasn't happy when he went and wonder what would be if he came back!..

It has to be asked, as well as he seems to have done for his new club, is that league as difficult as the Premiership?..

Its all well going from a top league to a top league, but if that league isn't as I think not as good as, would he be his old self or would he have to get up to fitness for what is expected off him?..

30yrs old, he's at the age that won't run for ever, and keeping up with the best will take more work!..

Not saying he'll play all 38 games. But as a squad option, he'd be a good addition imo. Can do a job further forward, not just at LB. We do need better, but we ain't being linked to any LB's and all we have is an unreliable Firpo

Good player, great team member, but no, I would not take Alioski back. Let's move forwards!

Firpo is no worse than Alioski was. They've both been exposed in exactly the same areas, ie man-for-man, being caught out of position. Alioski just didn't have to deal with injuries like Firpo has had, and benefited from the players around him playing better.

I'd rather give Firpo the chance to come good than backtrack and sign a player who wasn't good enough when we let him go.

Alioski was my favorite player for a couple of seasons and his link up with Harrison was supurb. But could he perform in Jessie's team. I'd prefer to remember him from the bielsa years.
As far as firpo goes I cut him some slack and give him this year to see what he can do.
I've seen glimpses of a player in him and have to think last year didn't really make anyone look good.

In my opinion, Ali was the glue that made us tick under Bielsa. More so than Kalvin.

He may not have been the best left back, nor the best winger, nor the best player, but he showed he is 100% a team man who allows everything to work like clockwork.

Bring him back immediately

Allows everything to work like clockwork unless it comes to defending his own side ffs. People remember the energy, but forget the ridiculous challenges, penalties cost, space left in behind that needed to be covered. He was a bombscare and a liability defensively, albeit an asset pushing forward.

Need to take off the retro-specs and actually remember the defensive frailties he caused.

In a team whose focus was to score more than we let in, and for a guy who would run himself 8th the ground and be in position when needed, he was there.

If you’re looking for perfection, you may as well take up knitting and forget about football. No such thing as perfect.

Not looking for perfection. Alioski maybe barely scraped good. He was the weakest part of the XI in the Championship, and the weakest in the first season back. Replacing him was the right choice, and replacing the replacement with him would be a step backwards.

We have put far too much emphasis on players who work hard, in my view. It's one of the things that cost us in the end, as we lacked the quality to overcome situations where working hard wasn't enough.

It's not even like he was that good an attacker. Couldn't cross for love nor money, and was more prone to a wild hit of the ball than any other member of the squad.

In his last season Alioski was our worst player in the majority of the games.

A lot of people rewriting history.
