Another sad reflection on today’s game.
Gyabi was snatched from Millwall for £300k as a 14 year old. Scouts on every street corner. Nice £4.7m profit that once upon a time would have gone to the lower league clubs.
They paid Watford 66k for Sancho and sold him for £8m without kicking a senior football.
They’ve just sold that youth keeper to Southampton for £12m and it sounds like Romeo Lavia who they pinched from anderlecht is also going to Saints for £12m after making 1 league cup appearance.

Gavin Bazunu the keeper. Plucked form shamrock for 425k, loaned out to league 1 and sold for £12m.
They have paid for Phillips this summer on selling kids they stole as teenagers.

Will he be in the 1st team squad?.
We have a full squad of 21's and under, how many of them would want to stay if he came staight in?.
I'd think we have a few youngsters knocking at the door, but AR has said he wants the academy to do its work, so unless he's ahead of his time then maybe next year!..
"They have paid for Phillips this summer on selling kids they stole as teenagers."
ManC were doing that before they were winning things!..

Read a Manchester journalist's take on Gyabi
(he covers City as a writer). He said he's a good
prospect who plays as a box-to-box type. They
rate him. Not as highly as McAtee or Lavia.

Dont get too excited lads, hes ok i am told but thats about it, Lavia was the one we should have got but City dont let anyone go if they are decent at that age,

My understanding is that we wanted Lavia, but City wanted a buy-back clause, which we weren't happy with. Gyabi is the second choice, but at his age it's near impossible to properly gauge whether he will be a success.

This Phillips and Gyabi deal sounds very dodgy...there has to be more to it. On the face of it, it looks like we got buggered coming and going!

Sounds good to me, Batts
We are where we are. Best we supporters can do is get behind ALL the players at our club, build their confidence and show 'em some love, eh?

The whole man city and Chelsea youth system reeks a bit to me..Snap them up sell them on for a profit. Meanwhile the lower League clubs get naff all. Doesn't seem fair. Mind you Leeds seem to be going that way as well. A lot of these young players are would benefit from staying at a lower League club and getting games. The whole system needs looking at before more teams go bust.

Fab romano suggesting gyabi comes as part of the Phillips deal. Hopefully that means his ‘fee’ was offset in the Phillips price and not separate to it as was first reported.
