The EMPOWERING decision Christensen took...

makes me even more proud of him
Immense amount of courage to pull-out of such a match of magnitude...taking preventative measures and actions always best, never easy missing big final matches.
Wise chap.

I figured dense-minded sheep wouldn't understand this though. Goes way beyond their comprehension.

Laughable to abuse him and his mentality when the fulcrum was outstanding in matches against Liverpool, Spurs, Everton, Atletico, United, Leeds consecutively (+ EL & CL finals) and led his country to a Euros semi-final...after momentarily witnessing the death of his team-mate on the pitch (If SIlva was exhibiting those type of displays...we'd never hear the end of it. Also worth noting...Silva was nowhere near the polished standard of AC' excellence at the same age), but expect nothing less from pea-brained obtuse brown-nosers with agendas, useless narratives and lack of self-awareness.
The way it was reported and sensationalised headlines didn't help either, set him up for copious amounts of unwarranted abuse & ridicule, irresponsible.
Root of the problem.

Debunked the myth that physicality is the be all and end all to succeed at the highest level and against the "European heavyweights"....When in reality, it's about how one smartly uses their body and reads the game.
Lost our best CB & top 5 CB in Europe (who hasn't even reached his theoretical prime age) for nothing!

Will always be fondly remembered for being the first real marvellous modern academy player to breakthrough the pathway barrier (against all odds) at Chelsea in his 10 years service at the club.

How was it against all odds? He was fantastic in the Bundesliga, was a natural step to introduce him into the team because he'd proven himself at a high level (NOT at youth level or in a lower division). Was it against all odds when Courtois did the same thing? Not really.

What made it even less surprising, to me at least, was the HG quota was an issue for us back then. Why lose him when he was one of the few capable players who'd fill a slot? Would've been a bit counter productive

Difference between Courtois & Christensen is one was bought and the other came through the academy. For that reason...they aren't treated the same.

In case you hadn't realised there's usually a stigma and added variables / obstacles with managers willing to give players from the academy a chance (regardless of what they've done as a loanee).
Took suspensions, rift, injuries to Luiz for Christensen to finally get a look-in under Conte, that's a lot of hurdles.
