More signings...

Stresses update de jour...

Baby Johnson has signed a new contract, and the new kit is red. That's Garibaldi red, which is a very special kind of red which changes hue depending on the observer and the ambient light. Quantum red, if you will. It definitely contains no hint of cerise, and anyone who says so is a damned liar.

We need some midfielders.

We have also signed French centre-back Moussa Niakhaté from Mainz. That's a centre back. Not a midfielder. This particular not-midfielder has signed a three-year deal through to the summer of 2025.

"For me, this a dream to come to England and to sign for such a historic club in Nottingham Forest," said the not-midfielder. "The club is well known around the world and its fans are incredible. It says here."

The deal is worth a reported £8.5m plus £4.2m in add-ons.

He's a great big thumper of a man with pace, skill and leadership qualities. He will be a stunning addition to Forest's army of defenders. That's defenders. Not midfielders.

Looks like Neco Williams and Omar Richards are going to sign imminently.

This will allow Cooper to play the as yet untested, 7-1-2 formation, thus negating the need for a midfield.

I'm glad I saved a fiver then!

Totally underwhelming display from the entire set of players - no cohesion, no understanding, no idea
People say these games are designed to bring them up to fitness, but I don’t buy that, they’ve had 5 weeks off, not 5 years!!!

The whole performance was lacklustre and very poor - whereas Coventry showed desire, ideas and had purpose - Forest had none of it

And as for Henderson, WTF was he doing? I’m not expecting miracles but for £100K a week, I expect a bit more than that pathetic horror show

Very disappointed

Not disappointed at all.

• All four new signings started - been here less than one week.
• Iannou and Taylor starting.
• Johnson and McKenna missing.
• Only four of the starting XI were in the play-off final.

FYI...Henderson only played the first half 👍🏻

Hopefully you being disappointed was a joke. It’s going to be a long season for you otherwise!

Next Saturday v Barnsley?

*Henderson

*Worrall
*McKenna
*Niakhate

*Williams
*Yates
O’Brien
*Richards

*Johnson
*Awoniyi
Mighten

When we have nine of our starting XI (highlighted with an asterisk) playing, and they have had more than a week together, then I’d suspect us to start playing better.

Add in MGW and Cornet? We won’t be losing to the likes of Coventry (on a training pitch in Spain) for long.

Disappointed with the performance - yes, why would I be - of course the game means nothing and there’s no way that attitude or display will be tolerated in the league

Yes I know Henderson only played for 45 minutes - he had 1 (extremely weak) shot and he somehow allowed it to trickle past him - he certainly didn’t instil any confidence in the defence - - you only had to look at their reaction when the ball went in

And chile, the season will just the same amount of time for me as it will for everyone else

It really is a big ask for the team that goes up through the play offs. The changed rule concerning loans is the biggest stumbling block.

Thankfully Aug' 6th is still nearly a month away, so Henderson should have sharpened up by then! Perhaps not such a good idea to send out Horvath on a season long loan.

Steve Cooper has a massive tase ahead of him melding a bunch of strangers into a team that can bounce back from say three losses on the trot!

I hope Mr Marinakis has given him a generous contract.

Bear I have no doubt the whole team, come the start of the season, will be ready and sharpened up formthe task ahead

Forest have just lost 3-1 against Coventry!
Cooper played a different team in each half, with the second comprised of youngsters, with Smith in goal.
New guy Biancone scored just before half time after Forest spurned a series of chances.

Tyler Walker scored two second half goals to put the game to bed for the Sky Blues.

A lot of the new signings didn't get to start, with Lyle Taylor getting 45 minutes in the first half. Possibly a lot of these players have been given game time to afford them a shop window going forward?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
New signings Henderson, Niakhate, Awoniyi all started the game. But so did Ioannu, and Lyle Taylor,

McK, Johnson, and Surridge did not figure.

Eleven changes in the second mostly development squad boosted by Migten, Cafu, Ojeda, and da Costa.

The performance was pretty much what I expected given the line ups.

After last years successes i’d almost forgotten your glass empty approach to following Forest.

I was wrong...it’s going to be a long season listening to your negativity every week 🤣

Just saw your comment on the Evening Post website:

REVD

People talk about fitness and getting ‘up to speed’???
But these are professional athletes who have had 5 weeks off work, not 5 years for crying out loud!!!

Surely it’s...

a). Six or seven week now...and...
b). Change the bloody record! 🤣

I see Derby beat our next opponents (Hertha Berlin) 1-0. Will be interesting to see the reaction if we lose that one.

Three weeks to go until our free hit against the richest club in the world!! 🥳🥳🥳
