What are your offbeat hobbies?

Mine is collecting arcade machines and retro things like pinball machines and old movie posters. Expensive hobby but as a member of the greatest generation (the 80s) it’s like showering (lol) in nostalgia every time I put a new machine together. This weekends mission is to put together a Mortal Kombat one.

What weird and wonderful things do you guys collect? Wacky hobbies?

I enjoy red wine but not French. It has too much tannin and really gets the back of my throat. I prefer Aussie or S American reds which seem much smoother. There is quite a range of them available nowadays and if I see a new one I'll give it a try. They are usually cheaper than the French wines as well.

Not sure how wacky they are, but I have a few hobbies... Surfing, snowboarding, kayaking, SUPing... Plus making music, so I have a decent collections of guitars, bass guitars, pianos and my beloved synths (80s style!)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Similarly, I've had a studio in the spare bedroom since 1996. Guitars (electric, Acoustic, bass), synths, various bit of percussion, a reasonably well stocked mic cabinet, all hooked up to a custom built dedicated music pc, running Cakewalk by Bandlab through a Focusrite 18i20
I've also been building a 40inch replica of HMS Victory for the last 5 years, but it is SO damned time consuming
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What synths do you guys have? Any classics like prophet 5 or Jupiter 8’s?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sadly not!

I currently have a Korg Prologue, Novation Supernova, Moog Subharmonicom and a couple more Korg volcas… plus some MPC gear

Wow this thread has turned up a few surprises, it's amazing that behind some of the banter mixed with vitriol we all have quite a varied and querky private life sharing some common interests.

I also love my guitars, I have 12 of them, they're my babies, mostly acoustic which includes a Gibson studio J45 studio natural in walnut, a Martin D15 in mahogany and a Taylor GS mini in Hawaiian koa.

That’s some nice gear you guys have! I tend to go soft synth with a notation controller these days, at one point did actually have a prophet 5, great wooden-y thing, it was such a cool looking and sounding device. Sadly now it’s only the likes of diva (which is awesome), would love to get my hands on some proper old school analogue synths again, but it’s not a cheap hobby!

cheers... I'm still paying off for the Martin which I treated myself to nearly 5 years ago.. I'd say that's my favourite guitar.
