Arsenal dodged a bullet ?

Have Arsenal dodged a bullet for not signing Lisandro Martinez?

He costs around £60mil for Man Utd. He looks like Argentine Squillaci

This debate is mute. If a player is good enough, he is tall enough!
When I played the game, there player 5ft6 who would win headers in corners against 6ft plus players. Some would have an impecable timing of the jump and attain huge leaps for the height.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I was one of those players. Only 5’10 and I could out jump our own 6’5 CB.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

He was utterly useless. One of the best all round sportsmen I have ever known. But utterly crap at heading a football.

You're right. It's £57m PLUS £10m in add-ons...

Unusual but not unknown to have a cb that size. Eric Garcia who went from City to Barca is 5’10, but he made up for it with good positional sense. Mind you he hasn’t torn up any trees at Barca. Gonna be interesting watching Martinez play against a 6’4 very mobile number 9.

6'4 mobile 9, name all of them in the prem.

Maybe this is a better board for you https://www.ja606.co.uk/articles/browseByTag/Basketball

There's not loads of 6ft 4in mobile strikers but there are dozens of 6ft+ ones.

Go through any side from Utd to Everton, Liverpool to City, Palace to Newcastle... nearly all have a big lad up front with a good spring.

He can play, as I have seen him do so in the CL, but over the course of a season I suspect he will be targeted.

You have to wonder how he’s made it as a centre back from being a kid to being a professional footballer playing in the later stages of the champions league and representing his country without challenging for a header against anybody over 6ft until now. The PL will be a huge shock for him.

He's clearly got timing and can read it, but let's not pretend it's an advantage for a centre back.

As said, the Prem is brutal and I can see him being targeted heavily. It's compounded by the fact Utd are not exactly a massive side anyway whilst also having a keeper who is allergic to coming of his line.

Maguire, Shaw, AWB, Ronaldo, Mctominay, DVB are all listed above 6ft

City the side to beat have Laporte, Stones, Dias, cancel and Haaland over 6

Liverpool have VVD, Nunez, Henderson, Fabinho and then one of VVDs partners (Konate, Gomez, Matip) at 6+

Considering Liverpool and city are so far ahead of everyone else, they’re hardly towering over United are rhey
