Any update on stadium naming rights?

Or has Levy canned the idea?

Think what Spurs have done by not getting a name sponsor straight away is great. Once your actual stadium name has had a few years to become settled then whatever it's renamed to will feel temporary.

For us (Arsenal) our stadium is basically just an advert and the actual name is barely recognised by many of our supporters let alone the rest of the footballing world

Nope, I just think of the Emirates airline

Think you exactly misread the original comment?

But you just said 'the actual name is barely recognised'.. the actual name is the Emirates stadium. You need to reread it yourself.

Be interesting to see Todd Klines salary and his main objective or KPIs since he joined. Sweet gig.

With the recent ENIC cash injection, anyone else think the future naming right deal might be delayed until next season?

--------

not intentionally. right now we have conte, we just qualified for CL, we have made good signings.... we have just had concerts at the stadium and are having more this week, and have the NFL coming again soon..... currently the club is probably at the most attractive commercial position its ever been, so makes sense to get commercial deals done while it is still the case... a poor start to next season and suddenly we dont seem quite as attractive...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Supposing we don't qualify for champs league and Conte leaves in 2023. Maybe the club think Champs league has no bearing on stadium valuation. Very ballsy strategy.

I'm quite sure it's really "Ashburton Grove"
Emirates is a temporary name based on sponsorship, think it runs for a few more years yet as we renewed the deal.

"The Emirates Stadium (known as Ashburton Grove prior to sponsorship, and as Arsenal Stadium for UEFA competitions) is a football stadium in Holloway, London, England."

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emirates_Stadium

If we had a new sponsor it would then change name, for instance there was a potential deal involving Spotify that could've seen a change, it didn't go through though.

Perhaps we disagree on what counts as the real name but to me at least, Ashburton Grove is the equivalent of Highbury. The Emirates is just a sponsor as say Sports Direct was to Newcastle.

As mentioned in my original comment though, we kinda ruined any chance of people associating the real name with our stadium due to it opening under the sponsored name.

We had good reasons for this, I believe we needed the sponsorship funds in order to build the stadium. Just a shame no one knows it's real name (although besides the point I'm not a huge fan of the real name, doesn't roll off the tongue like Highbury did).

A stadium with no commitment to any particular brand makes it quite an attractive proposition to anyone wishing to buy the club from ENIC. If you sell the stadium rights on a 10/20 year contract, anyone new coming in is hamstrung by it.

The fact that we've been there since 2019 with no sponsor suggests to me that ENIC are already thinking about the end game.

Also, the longer you wait to sell the rights, the more the value of sponsoring the stadium depreciates. It's now known as The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and has been that way for three years. It's not long before that gets set in stone as the name everyone knows it by which will frustrate sponsors. If you name a stadium swiftly, as Arsenal have done, you get used to calling it that. Conversely, how many people actually call it The Sports Direct Arena up in Newcastle and not St James Park? No one.

Like Sandy though, I still call it WHL as it's built on the
memories of and plot of the old stadium. No franchise name will change that for me.

True but if they secure an NFL franchise team next year or the year after then that could negate the need for CL football to attract a sponsor who would pay what Levy wants.
