watched every minute of every game Spurs were involved in, cannot say I have learnt a lot if anything. OK for fitness I suppose, but cannot say I was overly impressed with any of the performances if the truth be told. Having said that I really don`t take much notice of pre season matches, just a way of trying out things I suppose.
Spurs finished off strongly last season, and I want a strong start to this season, but at the moment the players don`t look quite up to speed. Maybe just to many new players to integrate, and obviously wholesale changes during the matches do not really give much of indication of what is to come in the matches in the Prem.
Three things from yesterday`s match though.
1. Corners to the opposition are an almost guaranteed goal from at least one of them.
2. Struggle to break down packed defences. No real creativity in midfield.
3. Harry Kane for all his brilliance has to be the worse free kick taker in football history. For a player that can score with his left or right, and from any distance and any angle, why cannot he not hit a deadball freekick to save his life?
Of the new signings, Perisic looks the best of what I have seen so far. The others have have not a lot of time, and hopefully will get up to speed, sooner rather than later.
Defence still worries me, midfield would be OK if there was more creativity. Up front Spurs are fine and will score plenty. Just need so see more movement throughout the team, still too much sideways and backwards stuff for me. Spurs on the front foot are a handful for any team, as shown at the end of the season. But try to play the dull containing stuff, and they don`t look so good.
Be interesting to see the starting XI next Saturday, right hand side and midfield I think there are still places up for grabs.
Anyway we shall see. Cannot wait for next Saturday.
COYS
PS would you be embarrassed if Harry Kane took his shirt of in a friendly after scoring a goal?
Right pre season over, and having

I’d be to WHL at least 25 times by the time I was 10 ffs
Call yourself a Liverpool fan
BT and Sky sub fan more
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well you do realise Liverpool have a global fan base, tickets ain’t that easy to get.
Unless you have a 1/3 season ticket of course
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Once season I went 3rds on a ST. That allowed me to get to about 12ish games that season league cup etc. so that’s half already of what you’ve done in your lifetime
Joke is on you as always Pranks. Giving it the Billy big bllcks acting out as if you’re some huge Pool fan when in reality you never make any attempt to get to any game home or away and watch from your armchair. I guess that makes you an armchair fan
I will continue to make 2-3 games year in year out while I live in Portugal
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Jokesyou’re the one bringing up going to games when you live in Portugal.
It’s your default position when you got Fack all else to say.
I’ll leave you and your 1/3 season ticket to it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You’re a glory hunter Pranks. From the south and chose to support Liverpool off the back of their 70s and 80s success. It’s the truth and you know it
And you don’t go to games because it’s too far and expensive. Am I right!!!?

Number 3 was learned a few years ago. It's tragic we are still having to say it now because he is still on free kick duty.
Get a real attacking mid and free kick specialist and maybe we won't have to see him take as many, and this might help with point 2 too.
I think once the season starts we will get into gear anyway. We have a decent set of starting fixtures.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bar Chelsea away which is a guaranteed loss. Ticked that one off already.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No faith in the new team Don?
Think we could manage a draw in that one. Even if we don't it's not the end of the world.

You know you have to win a trophy to play in that friendly
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No you don’t - you can finish second and qualify for it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Such an expertquite surprising given spurs finished 3rd in a 2 horse race and don’t win trophies.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Facts are facts - you bottled the title and CL again last season

I don't see us greatly improving from last season tbh, the defence is still a huge worry, I agree Dier and Sanchez need replacing. We need an aerially dominant centre back, preferably two.
As also noted, we also have little creativity to unlock low blocks. At least we are still getting linked to centre backs and creative types, a creative attacker and dominant CB are a must or we will continue to drop silly points to teams that get in front against us.
Currently, we have no plan B, you always need a plan B.

I can see us getting up there to at least 80 points, and doing better in the cups. That would be a noticeable improvement. Kane will have a better start which will help and there should be more goals in the team in general. The addition of Bentancur/Bissouma will mean we won't be so vulnerable in midfield and defence than we were last season for the majority of it. The silly points we threw away last season won't be as big an issue IMO.

Funny that, during pre-season friendlies.

I think we have done OK in pre season, the Roma game would have been a positive result also but for some hapless refereeing, how Kane was not given a penalty was criminal, the clown even gave a foul against Kane, a borderline corrupt decision.
What is most concerning is we have not addressed last season`s deficiencies in that we concede from set pieces and lack creativity against a parked bus.
We need a commanding CB and a creative player to round off a good window, otherwise I can`t see much improvement of the first XI

That is supposed to be the whole idea of a preseason, to get them up to speed for when the season kicks off. Otherwise it is completely pointless.
