Kiko gone

and good riddance!

Not since saiz left have I wanted a player so badly out of our club.

Stealing a living as a keeper
Massive undeserved wages - 40k a week in the championship
Big reason failed to go up first time
The racial case
Straight down the tunnel after the derby playoff loss

Simply has to go down as one the worst signings ever. £7m in wages for nothing but trouble and strife. The only positive I can recall was a great save against Rotherham on his debut.

Bigoted?

People don't like him cause he was a poor signing who got suspended for being racist.

Saying People don't like him cause they are "bigoted" is probably one of the stupidest takes ive seen.

Maybe we just all hate the Spanish... I suppose that makes sense, as fans we are all well known for our hatred of Pablo Hernandez, not one of us liked him....

Real Estate, I'm sorry but I really don't agree with your position : it's not a question of personal dislike.

The fact is that he acted in an extremely unprofessional and frankly repulsive way on the pitch in front of thousands, hauled the club into extremely negative exposure, and left us in the last ten games with a rookie goalkeeper between the sticks during the vital promotion run-in, all the while pocketing his 40k a week or whatever it was. His demise is entirely of his own making and could have cost us even more dearly than it has. It's not just a question of personal dislike. This guy was an anti-servant to the club, the complete opposite of what a player needs to be. If he had any sense of honour about him, he would have terminated the contract early. He knew there was never going to be any way back with us but has milked the club ever since.

I think Real is maybe referring to the playing side of things - which i'd maybe agree with.

The racism, nah, can't defend that.

Best solution for all concerned ..... don't hate him, but don't want him back either .....

My thoughts on Kiko are that despite him playing for the majority of our promotion campaign, his goalkeeping skills were not a significant factor in the team achieving success that year.

Kiko for me was far too nervous and lackadaisical a character to cope with the pressure of being Leeds United 's main goalkeeper and this led to some real howlers that cost the team dearly the season before.

Despite the obvious deficiencies in Kiko MB still employed him as our number one gk, even though the catastrophic mix up in the play off semi was enough and the final straw for most fans to want to never see him again between the sticks.

Nevertheless until his suspension he carried on and still he threw in more than a few costly errors that further undermined his confidence and the players confidence in his abilities and invariably he became a target for supporters to vent their displeasure, regardless of the racism issue, he simply was an average at best acquisition, and like many others before him, will not be remembered fondly.

Seriously, though, how long before we see a female manager at league level?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I remember Hope Powell being in the running for a league 1 or 2 team a few years ago, the boat has probably sailed for her at this stage but Wiegman could well be the first.

You could easily see a championship side or lower taking her own, not just because of her ability as a manger but also the reputation and financial benefits it could bring.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Think the Chelsea women's manager was offered a League One job last season, but she said no, because she's currently managing one of the best in the world in her sport. I don't see why these managers at the top of the women's game would take a move to struggling teams in the men's.

Same reason anyone does anything... money.

Don't get me wrong, I think there is more than enough evidence that someone like Wiegman could manage in the Premier league.

However when you look at the turn around of managers in that league, and the way that teams constantly seem to cycle the same set of managers I think its far more likely that a lower down team, a consistently mid table championship club for example, would take them on rather than what we see in the premiership where most jobs seem to want a manager to come in and stop the rot in the short term

I would imagine she gets paid more to manage the England women's team than she would to manage in league one. Potentially less than at the championship, but I wouldn't be certain. Managers don't tend to get paid astronomical amounts.

I guess if you pass all the badges, then you could be considered for coaching/manager role if you a woman (in the mens game), but considering there isn't a single coach tells you all you need to know. I found it really odd Phil Neville being England Woman's manager, I mean the current woman's manager is obviously miles better than Phil, who must have been given the job because of the level he played.

Where do they go in the changing rooms, how close do they get to the players? Would premier league players feel right having a woman manager?

End of the day, with so much at risk financially, I can't see it ever happening. No club will take that kind of risk

So all the vitriolic comments are balanced and consistent relative to the other dross we’ve had at the club? We’ve had few at worse players, and this was my point.

Jaz, my comments aren’t personal, but I stand by what I see as blatant elements of hypocrisy. I’m not defending Kiko’s atrocious record between the sticks; however it simply sits alongside two or three others in the past 7 years or so; a couple who were perhaps worse.

However, the rhetoric shows that most on here are clearly fuelled by hatred more than rationality. That’s just blatant hypocrisy; in their second breath, they’re the same one who say we need to eliminate hate? Anyway, which police force was Kiko convicted by? Besides, how famous are the FA for there uncompromising neutrality, I wonder? Oh please! They only had an interest in one outcome, and it is utterly naive to suggest otherwise. I’m not bothered if others disagree, as I’m not so vain as to be after popularity points. My view is as equally correct as any other.

Relative to most elements of your comment though, I believe there are worse examples.

However….milked the club? There are any number way ahead of Kiko who have milked the club for far, far more expensive ver the past 20 years. And how many others of those were players who saw out their contracts to the bitter end, especially in recent years? Why pick on Kiko? After reading these comments, it’s no surprise he didn’t exactly feel enamoured either with the attitude of some fans.

Bielsa supported Kiko and was unequivocally clear that he was not a racist. I’d suggest to most on here he knew Kiko better than any of you do.

I don’t support racism, if I did, I’d have a hard time living in a country where most people have much darker skin than me, including my father-in-law. My wife is Latina for the record. The reason Bielsa defended Kiko as not a racist is for a reason. As a native Spanish speaker, he understands it’s culture far better than most of you. Many Spanish speakers use words in jest by habit and that includes those from the black community - and no one takes offence. Everyone is happily proud of their own identity and get on well. It suffices to say that many find British culture quite abrasive and offensive, but don’t expect British people to change to suit these sentiments.

So yes, my point stands. I think that the motive behind the hateful nature is obvious and just stinks of hypocrisy; people commenting on a person they do not know and make presumptions about.

Just remember folks, there are probably people out there who dislike you….and you really can’t understand why?
