The fact he was dropped the following game clearly proved it wasn't a misunderstanding. He was being a d!ck.

Even putting aside how it made Sarri look at a time when he really didn't need the negative publicity, it heaped so much unnecessary pressure on him (and us) for that shootout - so also objectively stupid.

Why was he? Manager tried to take him off thinking he was injured when he wasn’t. Much ado about nothing

Believe it or not...on that occasion (as much as I firmly wanted Sarri out at this point, due to being on a path destroying the clubs future prospects) had a smidgen of sympathy for Sarri, Kepa blindsided him and defied the plans (nothing short of distasteful antics from Kepa).

Was pre-planned that in the event of penalties against City...Caballero would be subbed on as he's the genuine penalty specialist and familiar with City takers.

Mendy is lucky to keep his place. He has become an utter liability with his dreadful distribution. I hope he has worked hard to improve this part of his game in pre season. If he hasn't then he must be dropped.

Mendy is lucky to keep his place. He has become an utter liability with his dreadful distribution. I hope he has worked hard to improve this part of his game in pre season. If he hasn't then he must be dropped.

Think he's reached a mean of meh. Not as bad as I originally thought he was, but he's certainly no Cech or Courtois either.

He's Szczesny-ish. One fan could call him a silent gem, another could call him average & both would have decent arguments

He is a decent shot stopper. His distribution though is a massive negative for the team and he causes momentum shifts in opposing teams favour. It is obvious oppo teams have sussed him out now and they are constantly pushing him to make errors.

Mendy was the best keeper in the world for a year. I'm willing to give him some benefit of the doubt regarding a few lapses of concentration and poor distribution

For me it's was every game for the last third of the season, so more than a few. He got away with a lot but he has been sussed. And I just hope he has been working on that part of the game, otherwise we can no longer play out from the back and beat the opposition press.
