£30,000 wage increase for a player who...

made his intentions clear months in advance...begging the club (Tuchel) to allow him the return to Spain, doesn't sound like a good idea.

In fact it is nonsensical, especially when you factor in Azpi' pronounced decline in defence (& attack) over the past couple of seasons to the point that he offers next to nothing on the pitch (Frank was right at the time to phase him out) and we've got players within that can perform to a satisfactory standard right now which Azpi simply cannot match.

Sure, Azpi may play a diminished role this season but why can't someone else on the books on significantly less wages that wants to be at the club take up that role?
At most, I'd only accept Azpi in a non-playing capacity on reduced wages (akin to Terry in his final season at the club), as I have no appetite to see him on the pitch to be perfectly honest.
Proceeded to settle with Chelsea contract, because couldn't wait any longer for Barcelona and the unwarranted pressure from Tuchel...

Bad enough had to lose ready-made replacement Livramento in the first place, for these type of inane short-sighted decisions that set the club back.
No forward-thinking vision whatsoever on that. Damaging.

not really sure how this chelseaamf joker can call himself a chelsea fan. Done nothing but whine over tuchel who has reached the final of every competition hes been in since he came, has operated under total abnormal situation during the Roman witchhunt has been totally professional on all medias. Boehle is just starting out having to do everything himself and has now aquired some very promising talent as well as well tested pros.
i know we still maybe need a striker but give Broja a few tries first he scored ok for southampton so with our team he should also get plenty of chances, even then we were still the 3rd highest scorers in the premier league last season.
Have read a lot that chelsea are fancied to drop out of top 4 just because of our preseason results, cant see it my self.
as for being so far behind, were we really until christmas we were still very much in the hunt until reece and chilly as well as kante and kova all got injured, thats when the gap started to open. we were 2nd at the start of dec ahead of pool by 3 points, those injuries killed our season.

i could take it to the board of the team you support, but it really is only apparant that it is anyone but Chelsea. Big up who do you support, probably spurs.

So my understanding is that Tuchel and the club felt Barca were taking the mick out of us with their low ball offer for Azpi and cited the price that they paid for Koulibaly as an example of a defender of similar age.

Now while it is true that Azpi no longer offers a very significant attacking threat as WB he showed last season that even as his powers wane he is still a very good defender and certainly an excellent squad option.

And there it is.......my narrative / opinions or nothing.

Oh what lovely people football fans are. Even politicians occasionally accept people have different opinions than them.

Probably a financial decision, spending a lot of money on other areas and to have to go and buy another RB/CB in the same window is probably an issue.

Livramento buy back is from next season is it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Retaining a player that is a hindrance to our progress and dynamic of the team on £180,000 per week and was actively seeking a way out of the club is the bigger issue.
This was the Ideal time for a completely fresh start, instead we've got a manager prioritising a spent force.
