And now for something completely different

With nothing better to do until kick off today, I mulled over all the debates from Gem's article on transfers etc.

To date we have spent 20m on the Collins transfer, while offloading many from the weekly wage bill, which is the reason this post is up.

Last season we had 63 players on the books and a total of 1.6m in weekly wages. The highest earner was Trincao on 179,470 a week. With him and all the others including Saiss etc gone, the club have trimmed 400,00 off the weekly wage bill.

Collins was on 19,180 a week at Burnley and has probably doubled that and is now on what Saiss was (38,360).

Posters are wondering why we can't attract new players and why we continue with a small senior squad. One of the reasons could be that Bruno, whilst wanting more additions, knows he has to deal with players who all want to play every week and the fact the our owners have tightened the purse strings and have stated that we may have to sell, to re-invest.

Now compare that with the likes of Man City, who had 17 players earning over 100,00 week last season, with De Bruyne on 342,500. They can afford to rotate players who, whilst wanting to play, are happy enough to sit a few games out and still get paid huge sums.

Wolves cannot do that and have to cope with trying to keep a happy and content squad. MGW wasn't able to be guaranteed much game time last season, hence his loan move. Hopefully, he'll fit into Bruno plans and we can keep him, but a 35m bid is not to be taken lightly, given that we are owned by an investment company. The same goes for Coady.

Last season before injuries, we could pretty much name the same starting line up, thus keeping our better players content. I don't see this season being any different. So, whilst it would be great to be able to compete with the likes of Man City, the reality is, we will continue to be a top half team with the chance of a Europa League spot.

I think we're all disappointed that Fosun are not willing to spend, but I'm not really surprised.

I wish Bruno and the lads well this season and will continue to support the Wolves, come what may.

Not looking for replies, just bored at the moment.

Gibbs-White sale at 35m should be done imo, give Lage the funds to bring in 3 players if he’s smart because Wolves are very light compared to other teams. A couple injuries from being in the mire

Bloody hell, don't know where you got your numbers from wolfie but if that's true Trincao on 180k a week is madness. No wonder Barcelona are in the sh!t dishing out contacts like that to very ordinary players. I assume we matched his contract while he was with us.

No surprise that his option wasn't taken up.
