Cancelo and Walker

Am I the only football fan who has to rub his eyes when I watch Kyle Walker play in city shirt. I know Pep is famous for reprogramming players but my word what a Job he did on Walker and I'm glad the manager acknowledged his performance today.

He is not perfect but its no coincidence that the defense became better when Walker started playing at this level. When you add Rodri who I think is now levels above his peers then honestly the CBs have no reason to fail. I thought Ake was Good, Dias better than last week. Still a touch sloppy and careless but better. Maybe he needs games but on talent Dias is behind Stones and Laporte for me. Will be interesting who is made captain.

Cancelo did what Cancelo does, starts well, bossed the game then gets excited and gets careless in possession. Pep pointed that out. Thing is, he is not just a fullback, like Trent he is a footballer but Trent doesn't try outrageous stuff. On todays performance we at least forgot we need a left back.

On to Haaland, I will try not to get too excited but I think his team mates may underestimate what he is capable of. At least 3 times they choose to pass than put him through on goal. Even the Gundo pass for the pen is not a perfect pass, he just makes it work.

He is rapid, very athletic for his size and as we know his movement is world class and strikes the ball so cleanly, better than Ederson. We already knew this but his intelligence and how he sees the spaces is just amazing. Phil almost found him with some passes that couldn't get to him.

Lastly people go on about letting Sterling and Jesus go, fair enough we will miss them both especially Jesus but in all this we forget that Foden sacrificed a lot playing false 9 last season. If he stays fit he will boss this league. I quite liked him on the left.

If Jude Bellingham is worth £90 million then what is Foden worth? I know the £100 million for Grealish was a release clause but he doesnt look anywhere close to a £100 million player. Haaland does.

Hard to know how this season goes but as usual Pep knows.

Now that Arsenal are good again, why don’t you come back and support us?

Cancelo has a bit of old Walker about him - concentration lapses. Walker never thought he was fb Messi though tbf.

Hopefully he continues to get better, because it is a worrying flaw in an otherwise incredibly talented footballer

Because I have supported City since before you were born maybe?

I meant Sky Blue who apparently used to support us.

Walker is perfect for City as firstly you spend most of the game in possession which means less defending for Walker but also when you do lose it, there's loads of space on the wing but Walker's recovery speed means this is less of a problem.

I wont lie, Cancelo was starting to irritate me at the back end of last season.

Incredibly talented. Just needs to work on his timing.

Today it was more of how he played as an inverted fullback with Cancelo in midfield and was basically a DM which allowed the team to flood bodies in midfield and Westham did not know what to do.

Westham played exactly the way they played us at the back end of last season, Pep just switched the tactics and Moyes acknowledged that. We stopped any passes to Bowen and it was lights out for them.

He cost us in Madrid for sure by switching off. Pretty sure did similar against Villa too.

Was always lofting balls into the box too, which would of made sense, had Haaland joined 12 months earlier.

Ultimately he’s a luxury player, which is great in 99% of matches, but it’s risky against the top sides who will target him as a weakness

How does that stack up with Haaland's awful headed goal stats and his awful attempt yesterday?

Their more balls to split the back line than to score from

Since we’ve generally played without a striker for 2 years though they generally result in a goal kick 😂
