The trouble with a team of youth and experience is that the youth don't have the experience and the experienced don't have the youth. He's got a better squad of players this season but seems lost at moulding them into an effective team. No clear playing style or system. I'm thinking it was a mistake to appoint in house but we're saddled with it so hopefully it will get better.

The apologists have an inexhaustible supply of reasons why it's not working in the shape of the injured players. And I don't remember there ever being so many. I don't know enough about those who aren't playing to know whether they are right or not. I doubt whether Taylor will ever be the player he was, but who knows the potential of the newcomers or Close for that matter.

I have just seen the extended highlights which meant watching Lincoln waltzing through our defence. Williams and Biggins looked particularly ineffectual. Defenders that won’t tackle properly are liabilities and reminiscent of last season giving the impression that they weren’t trying.

This is very worrying and difficult to encourage the spirit of support amongst the fans.

Patience and optimism will quickly evaporate if they perform like this again.
