Pep and Klopp at United

How would they both get on at this club if they came and the hierarchy above was the same as it now? Or even in the Woodward era which only just ended?

Without a doubt both incredible coaches and managers but I don't think we'd succeed with them two either. Not unless the people above them were changed.

City, even with someone like Poch, I'd still fancy to win the league or come very close to it. Liverpool would probably drop off more than City if they lost Klopp tbf but they'd still probably be less chaotic than us.

A sad indictment really if the two best current coaches in world football wouldn't be seen as a sure thing.

We always seem to take comfort in saying that it's the Prem that's just so tough and outsiders coming in just can't cope with it.

He has been given Harry shiittting Maguire to try and implement his style of play with. Pep or Klopp would have him out the door on day one.

We had success under Ole with a sit back and counter and try and sneak a win against all odds approach. No real ball playing players.

It takes more than two games to change the whole footballing culture of the club. Pep replaced garbage with ball playing players. Over time they started to play much better football.

To say that he is out of his comfort zone in the PL after two games, whilst having Harry Maguire forced on him, is pure English arrogance. Not everything is about how amazing the Prem is compared to everything else, all of the time. Sometimes it is just that Harry Maguire is shiiite.

Pep on Maguire, 2019:

“Yeah. Maguire is an excellent, top-class player.

"We were interested, but we could not afford it. United afford it. He's an excellent player, national team too, he had an incredible World Cup.

“He's strong in the air, good with the ball, the build-up, he drives with the ball, he's fast. He has all the qualities. Congratulations to United for this signature."

Maguire’s people met with City representatives several times, and it was reported that City were ready to make him the highest paid defender in the world. They were desperate to have him.

The fast quote gave it away. He clearly did a good marketing job in selling Maguire to Utd. Even a blind guy could see he was slow when he was at Hull.

Think I was just addressing the general argument created by people I made up in my head. Didn't read his comment in detail.

He literally built that robot and you built yours. That's the point of robot wars. And football.

... Barry, that's a sentence I never thought i'd read on here!

Both of them would still struggle with your current squad, they’ve shown themselves previously that you still need the foundations no matter how good a coach you are.

I doubt either of them would have come to you without changes in your operations though. Neither are as accountable for transfers as some on here suggest at times, they are reliant on both the relationship with and the quality of the recruitment teams too.

Thank you.

“But Pep/Klopp/Solksjaer decided to spend £x on y player!”

People make it sound likes these guys are in the business of single-handedly scouting players, narrowing down to shortlists, and negotiating and signing off fees.

Errrrr, nope.

They’d both do well because they are exceptional coaches. We’ve not appointed anyone close to their levels since Fergie retired.

Great managers manage upwards as well as down. They’d be fine. Basically why SAF was so good, and the ones that have followed have been so poor.
