Tbf De Bruyne did score that beauty vs Brazil in the World Cup QF and they won that game.

Meaningless.

So by your logic only finals of any competition count

I guess CR7 & Benzema choked in the UCL every time then because they were rubbish in all the finals they played lol

Maguire and Dele Alli scored England's goals in the same round.

Umtiti's goal knocked Belgium out.

Does that make them all footballing greats?

Difficult to put Henderson any higher as the others are vastly superior players.

Fixed that for you.

When would you say Cazorla’s peak was? 2nd to 6th suggests a really high peak in a not so stellar career.

one of my all time favourite players to watch he was class, up there with silva as a player and ability wise etc a real joy to watch. His career as far as im aware in terms of trophies etc wasnt very good? but he was a top player when at his best.

not sure when his peak was had a few good seasons for arsenal then after horrible illness? he event went to villareal late on in his career and did really well for them? just a joy to watch as a footballer.

I agree, gorgeous footballer to watch, seemed to have this childlike enjoyment when he played too. I actually think most of his best years were before he joined Arsenal - mainly for Villarreal and also the season he played for Málaga - but he was also brilliant and adapted his game later in his career, so all in all I'd say his consistency is more notable than his peak. The silverware issue is mainly due to the clubs he played for (he famously rejected Real Madrid in 2008 after they'd offered to table his release clause and his presentation had already been leaked to the press). He was also unlucky with injuries at key moments in his career, like his leg fracture just before facing Arsenal in the 08-09 CL or when a back injury made him miss the 2010 World Cup.

His injury complications at Arsenal were horrific, I remember Sid Lowe wrote a fantastic article and interviewed the player about his ordeal. Great read simply as a human interest story. I can dig it up if you like.

Yes do, sorry to interject.

‘Dig it up’,interesting terminology, something to share?

Come on, it’s conspiracy Saturday, or something.

Sorry to disappoint Shinj, just 'dig up' as in the article dates back to a pretty long time ago. 2018 to be precise. Here it is:

The picture of the tattoo is well weird.
