So the draw isn't fixed........response

Given the article now closed ( typical ) I had to open a new one.

In response to KSE out, well what can I say. First you have actually answered your own question by admitting that my original comments concerned the FA Cup and NOT the Carabao Cup. So, as you have already eluded to, no I won't be making any sort of apology regarding something, as you have stated, I did not say.

There was a good reason why I said the FA Cup draws were fixed. The same evil as everything else in football.......money and greed.

Nobody gives a flying fig for the League Cup. Every PL team has it as their least important priority, and regularly makes anything up to 10 changes to their recognised first team when they play in it. The same principle applies to the authorities that run it. The simple fact is the FA cup is the oldest and most famous cup competition around. It is the season ending showcase match, and is watched by millions in virtually every country in the world.

The league cup on the other hand is of very little interest to anyone, unless your team is in the final.

So think about it. Come May each year, the FA make money from, among other thing, TV rights. Whilst the BBC don't have advertising, just about every other sports outlets does, and will know the more people watch their programme, the more advertising companies will pay them to advertise before, during and after the game.

So here's the Captain Obvious point to this. It is clearly in the FA's interest to have two big glamour clubs competing in the final to maximise the viewing audience interest, and therefore the revenue from it.

What better than to ensure two of the three biggest supported teams are in it each year. The bigger the club fan base ( by this I mean in all these countries that tune into the match ) the wider the and larger the watching audience is. This also applies to a watching public that, whilst not specifically supporting them, know of them and will want to see the game. I mean, who in the world has not heard of Real Madrid, and will not wan't to watch them in a final ?

All of this adds up to income for the FA from media outlets, who know their advertising sponsors will reach a wide audience and therefore pay more to the FA for the privilege.

Tell me, would the interest be the same ( worldwide ) if the Final was between, say Wigan and Barnsley ( no disrespect to them ) ??

I can't, of course prove any of this, but can form an opinion based on statistical facts. These tell me that, in the last six years of FA Cup draws, only once have City, Liverpool or Chelsea drawn each other in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th rounds in the last SIX YEARS. Obviously by the semi final, the FA have no choice.

This was when Chelsea were drawn against Liverpool in the 5th round in season 2019/20. So from a total of 360 times two balls were matched with each other in the same competition, only ONCE.

That's the same as choosing three numbers and only drawing two of them out consecutively once in 360 attempts. Some draws where there are only eight numbers to choose from.

So, no I won't be apologising for something I clearly did not say, but will concede to an element of doubt, if these three do draw each other in the 3rd, 4th or 5th rounds of this year's FA cup, as I originally stated.

But thanks for taking the time to follow my old posts.

I don’t know if the FA Cup is fixed or not in anyway.

But what I do know is that the FA Cup is the oldest and, with the exception of the World Cup, the most famous Cup in world football.

A Cup that Arsenal have won a record-shattering 14 (fourteen) times.

Who the hell cares about the CL? (Maybe apart from Liverpool fans )

In fact for a long period of time, the CL was considered a gimmick event, and England didn’t even send their league winner to compete in the tournament during the early days.

Of course we’ve seen recently that the CL has been a commercial failure, which prompted the 12 biggest teams to attempt to leave the competition and start the ESL - which will happen eventually.

It took some doing but LiquidGenius has managed to be a bigger idiot than the OP

=======
Spurs draws in last SIX YEARS

21/22
Morecombe, Brighton, Middlesbrough

20/21
Marine, Wycombe, Everton

19/20
Middlesbrough, Southampton, Norwich

18/19
Tranmere Rovers, Crystal Palace

17/18
Wimbledon, Newport, Rochdale, Swansea, Man Utd (semi final)

16/17
Aston Villa, Wycombe Wanderers, Fulham, Millwall, Chelsea (semi final)

So in the last 6 years, Spurs have not been drawn against a big 6 team at all - except for the semi finals when the FA have had no choice.

In fact you have to go all the way back to 4th January 2014 for the last time Spurs played a big 6 team in the FA Cup pre-Semi Final stage - Arsenal 2-0 Spurs.

Come on, Steve; you’ve had a full day to get the maths done demonstrating how often City, Liverpool and Chelsea should have been drawn against each other.

Let’s see it.

I can feel your palpitations from here Steve !

Maybe we should now move on to how the Champions League draw is fixed now that Spurs have been pitched against 3 European giants and will be forced to play the games midweek.
