Reading reports now from the Netherlands that he's been sold.

He's been left out of the Ajax squad today as well. We'll probably overpay but he could add what we need on the right.

Some mutterings, nothing massively concrete.

@jim_cocklord 23m #mufc closing on a deal for Brazilian Antony. Fee reportedly agreed at 110 euros with 30m add on if he plays more than 15 games a season. Player keen to work with Ten Hag, but wants assurance that Ronaldo will start alongside him if fit.

@Ian_telyes 54m #MUFC have agreed fee with @afcajax for Antony. Fee €100m plus up to 40m in add ons. Wages reported at 450 k per week. Ten hag wants to move to a 5–4-1 and sees Antony wide right, feeding either Ronaldo or another striker that Utd are courting, with Patrick Bamford a prime target.

Not sure this would even be happening if it wasn't for us losing the first two games and being embarrassed by Brentford.

Antony was available for €70-80 million earlier in the summer and here we are acting desperate and paying an extra 25-30% on top of that at the end of the window.

I like the player a lot and I'm sure he'll be enormous fun to watch but if Dubravka is the only other arrival before the window closes, I feel like €100 million might be better spent on a less costly RW option and improving other positions.

Not getting a midfielder who can control possession in front of the defence will be very disappointing after chasing De Jong all summer. We can't always rely on Eriksen in that role.
