With the news that Antony is close that will be the 5th non-English signing this summer.
Now that Shaw and Maguire have been deservedly benched it’s not improbable that there will be only one English player starting games when everyone is fit (Sancho or Rashford)
I can’t recall that happening before on a regular basis.
The least English United team in history?

The most talented English player we've had since Rooney is Greenwood.
Unfortunately because of his own stupidity , he's unavailable.
All the other English boys including Sancho $uck!!!

Foden is probably the standout English ayer right now.

We aren’t allowed to play Foden though because he’s registered as a City player.

In 1973 Man United were known as MacChester United as we had 10 Scottish outfield players and Alex Stepney. Plus Tommy Doc as manager and Paddy Crerand as assistant.
In fact Shoot magazine had a centre spread of the United squad entitled, 'MacChester United'.
Funnily enough.

Obviously you want the club to field the best team available to get the best results, regardless of nationality, but the lack of homegrown players has been noticeable.
I’d rather have a core of talented British and Irish players, some from the academy in every Manchester United squad in an ideal world.
I’d want homegrown players if I supported Valencia, Sampdoria or Hertha Berlin, it just gives the club a bit of identity and soul, if you like, if they’re good enough of course.
Our most promising youth team players aren’t British, and we don’t seem to scout young, promising British players in the PL, Championship or SPFL so naturally that leaves overseas players as our main source of transfers.
