Sancho & Fernandes

Two players who need to step up massively. I would leave out both from the start on Sunday.

Sancho is really falling into flop territory now. 70+ million and he’s not performing. Many of us gave him the benefit of the doubt last season. New league and playing in a poor disjointed team but despite scoring a few goals he’s started this season poorly again.

He has ability and has great composure in front of goal but he’s simply not doing enough and doesn’t seem to have the heart for it. Also the decision to give him 350k a week was bizarre. If he wasn’t going to accept less we should have walked away.

I’m not writing him off by any means and hopefully as the team improves he will also but he needs to step up. A few well taken goals have pulled the wool over the eyes of some but other than those goals he’s done very little in any game.

Fernandes has also been poor for over a year now. He has his moments but it’s difficult to remember the last time he had a genuinely good game.

A bit like giving Sancho an obscene amount of money I’m not why we gave him that massive new contract not only at a time when he was playing poorly but when he had 3-4 years left on his existing deal. There was no need to renew it.

He’s proving he can be a very good impact sub on the rare occasion he hasn’t started but now I feel he needs a few weeks on the bench for league game and either push Eriksen forward or play 4-3-3.

Process, Sancho is at a stage in his career now where he needs to be producing week in, week out, particularly after producing the numbers he did at Dortmund. Not to mention trying to get back into the England squad with the World Cup coming up.

But, in his defence, I would say that, in a well oiled machine he’d be an important cog. And that’s the one thing we’re still not unfortunately. As it stands, we’re still the soft-centred team we’ve been for the last number of years, leaking goals left, right and centre, whether that be against City or a run of the mill Cypriot team. Hopefully we’ll get there which might see Sancho cement his place on the left game in game out.

With regards to Bruno, the way I see him now is that he’s a poorish player capable of a moment or two of brilliance. I don’t think this is gonna change for him going by the way our team plays. Soft centred, leaking goals, and still easy to play through a lot of the time usually brings out the worst side of Bruno. Sulking, moaning, instead of producing the goods, or even the simple things, when he should. He’s nowhere near De Bruyne, when talent wise, he should be at least running him close. He just lacks a winners mentality.

The thing that frustrates with Sancho is the lack of intensity or urgency on the ball. He’s not got explosive pace but he’s quick and nimble and with the skill & quick feet to beat people. I want to see him work his fullback more throughout the game both with and without the ball. Too often it’s all a bit slow & safe and lacking in dynamism, even though he clearly has it in his locker.

Bruno is almost the total opposite: everything is 100 miles an hour, forcing passes that aren’t on yet, giving the ball away far, far too much and charging around headlessly (which might look impressive and boost the running stats but the eyes don’t lie; he often causes issues that his numbers are no longer resolving). He needs to develop as a player to be more measured, be used in a different role where the play isn’t going through him too early in the build up or simply find himself rotated more rather than being a nailed on starter. He has the ability but he needs to improve his weak areas as he severely hampers our control & grip on games, particularly in games like against City where you’re looking to settle on the ball once it’s been won back.

I keep waiting for Sancho to spark into life but unfortunately he looks like he got the big contract to set him up for life and is happy to do barely enough to justify it, am sure there is a player in there if he had the hunger.

You are consistent when talking bollox. I will give you that.

Tbh I don't see a problem with frankos original comment.

Sancho is a kid who got a huge contact of 350k a week. Surely that has some effect on the mentality of a young lad playing for a massive club in the spotlight.

No need for the ridiculous derogatory comment from vidicschin, as usual.

I believe a lot of united fans were reserved about Sancho even before he went to united. Seems they were right.

They've both cr@p. One is the only winger in football history who has never taken on defender or cross the ball into the box.
The other is just annoying with his moaning and complaining
