VAR, time to bin it. It is ruining football

there are so many incorrect decisions being given, they may as well dump it, and we go back to how it was before. I don`t care if the ref makes a wrong call on a hairline decision, at least when a goal is scored, fans can celebrate without the nonsense of waiting five minutes for the goal to be chalked off.

Forget about the Spurs goal midweek, there are so many contentious decisions that are hairline, and VAR cannot get them right most of the time. I saw a goalie clearly off his line midweek, I think it may have been in the Athletico match. He saved the penalty, and it was not retaken. Didn`t Spurs have won overturned just a couple of weeks ago, for exactly the same reason, and it had to be retaken. VAR is making a nonsense of the game.

I don`t care anymore if decisions go for or against my club, I just want my game back. You know where you can actually get excited and cheer when a goal is scored. Clear offsides can be seen by everyman and his dog, so that is not the problem. It is these marginal decisions that are ruining the game. Does it really matter if a nostril is offside I don`t think so.

Need to get a petition up now, to have VAR suspended ASAP, and finally dumped. It is causing more problems than it was supposed to be solved.

On another topic, HTF has Klopp got away with his rant, when Conte rightly protested midweek, and was handed a Red, and probably a touchline bad. Same with how Arsenal were allowed to moved fixtures to fit in their rearranged match in Europe, but Spurs were thrown out because they were not allowed to do the same. Ridiculous corruption in the game, and their needs to be some kind of investigation into how some clubs get favourable treatment over others.

Right now on to the weekend game at Bournemouth, I would like to see Bryan Gil start over Moura, who is offering next to nothing, He at leasts offers enthusiasm and has a trick or two up his sleeve. My team

Lloris
Doherty
Romero
Sanchez
Perisic
PEH
Bentacur
Bissouma
Gil
Son
Kane

Need to get the show back on the road, after three games without a win.

3-0 Spurs

Apparently you’re going to get your wish with Sanchez starting over Dier

About time. I was wondering what Dier had to do to get dropped.

Football was working just fine for 150 years, before some dicccchead thought that technology would sort out all the wrong decisions. It hasn't. Just needs dumping.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's not as if football hadn't undergone any changes in those 150 years, Sandy. It's undergone massive change, quite likely opposed by Luddites every step of the way. It's the people who actually wanted football to evolve that made it into the game you fell in love with in the '1950s and have been hooked to all your life through so many changes.

It's just some people will always pine for the old days as if their generation owned a pure, prelapsarian form of the game which is where it should forever remain.

Your comment also seems to overlook the fact that before VAR, people were still complaining about every borderline, 50/50 or marginal decision as if the whole world was against them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I cannot remember coming back from many games at WHL complaining about poor decisions prior to VAR. Since VAR I can say practically every game I have attended has had some contentious decision decided by VAR.

If you have to trawl back to before VAT was even used in the Prem, to try to make a point, I feel for you.

But if you really want to try to point score on that post I put up, that was before VAR was implented, and I expected it to 100 per cent be right, which it clearly is not. Since I have seen how VAR has been working, I now want it completely binning.

Next time try to stick to up to date posts fella, instead of trawling back through another posters posts. It is very childish.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

VAR not VAT. Although that needs changing to.

Yet more Varpool favouritism, Norbert gets away with murder, just like his players

There are two different arguments from the Spurs fans here, one I have some empathy with and the other which is total bollox.

1) The bollox one, Spurs get the majority of bad VAR decisions in any game they play given against them, total rubbish. All teams get the odd incorrect decision and fans of that team will always disproportionately remember and highlight those.

Plus many fans (and tbf a great many pundits) are not upto date with the current handball and offside rules. Under current rules Kane WAS offside and similarly and even as a West Ham fan I thought our first goal against Bournemouth was dubious at first under the rules it was fine. These are not VAR problems, it may highlight issues with the laws of the game, but VAR is just enforcing the laws as they stand at the moment.

2) It take the excitement and immediateness out of the game, god forgive me but Sandy has a point. Having to look at the ref, then at the 4th official then wait 3 minutes is far from ideal and this definitely has to be improved. However as has been pointed out, if a decision could result in say a title or relegation with all that rides on that it's better to be sure, however frustrating the delay.

Nah just dump it. I would sooner the Ref got the odd decision wrong, than all these nonsensical hairline decisions that are taking ages to sort out, and are ruining the spectators enjoyment of celebrating goals.
====
Most VAR checks are pretty fast these days. Just because Spurs took that long doesn't mean it's a problem everyone else has to be concerned about.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No most are not fast. Most take anytime e between two and three minutes, which is a nonsense. If a decision is taking longer than say 30 seconds, then it is clearly inconclusive. So you go with the refs decision.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Naaah. Average time for VAR decisions is about 30 seconds.

Or in the case of penalty checks for us, two seconds before they decide it's not.
