An away win…in the league! Not our best performance, but who cares…we’re up to 15th!!
So…back to the FA Cup…and heading into our 4th away game after the restart. Two wins from three so far.
Last Game Overview: (Blackburn)
An in the end comfortable 4-1 result v Blackburn’s b team.
The Good: Great goals.
The Bad: Should’ve scored more.
The Ugly: Blackburn.
Special Mention: Our travelling fans. 5k + i think?
Overall Record: Currently we stand at W32 D27 L27
This will be the first time we’ve met Blackpool in a knockout game since the 09/10 semi’s. Following that season of 4 league losses, we have only lost once to them in the past ten games: W4 D5 L1
We’ve never played them in the cup before either.
Injuries / Signings:
Bade has gone, but nothing concrete otherwise. Scarpa made his debut.
Kouyate, Lingard, Niakhate and Richards remain injured.
Your Opposition Story:
I went to uni in Preston and on my two visits to Blackpool I never saw the attraction. The rollercoaster was decent though.
Form:
Blackpool are on a poor run of form:
W0 D4 L2 // W1 D4 L5
vs. Forest’s:
W4 D1 L1 // W5 D3 L2
Team:
Hennessey
Williams Worrall McKenna Toffolo
Mangala O’Brien Yates
Scarpa Surridge Dennis
Prediction:
Scarpa to put on a masterclass.
3-1 to Forest.

You’re right we should be embarrassed, we’ve had plenty of chances but not been anywhere near clinical enough, sounds a bit familiar. I thought Surridge would have flourished in a game like this but unfortunately he fluffed his lines, along with Dennis, and one or two others.

well if we can take anything positive from this game it should be that no one worries about selling Dennis and Sam sadly still needs time before he is prem ready so a loan for him is no bad thing. Scarpa looks a different class and I think he will provide that much needed spark going forwards. Not a good result but perhaps the learnings are more important than an FA cup run that could have been a distraction when all that maters is staying in the prem.

I have just checked something. Blackpool used four substitutes, each change at separate times. They are only allowed three substitute breaks, in which they can substitute a maximum of five players.
I know we played carp, but surely there must be some sanction against the fourth official, whose job it is to monitor the substitutes?

I'm sat in my hotel in Thailand. Day 4 of COVID, day 7 of the holiday. No happy endings on and off the pitch!
Looking at the game against Wolves in the Cup, and the possibility of two semi-final legs, I can see why Cooper left it to the fringe players.
Unfortunately those fringe players proved they aren't good enough.
My thoughts are based on watching the mini-highlights this morning. The Internet went down last night, so I missed the game.
1st goal - Colback allows the cross in, O'Brien heads it back into danger, Surridge doesn't challenge, two players collide. 1-0.
2nd goal - Cook gets done easily, pass goes in, O'Brien gets back to cover...and he falls over. 2-0.
3rd goal - Colback and Williams combine well in losing their man. Shot isn't blocked by Cook. 3-0.
4th goal - Cook loses his man. 4-0.
5th goal - decent cross from Toffolo, nice headed finish from Yates. 4-1.
Hennessey - need a decent back-up.
Williams - I just don't see the fuss. Currently he is a squad player at best.
Cook - as soon as we have another CB in, let him go.
Toffolo - at least he looked angry at the mistakes. Good assist.
O'Brien - has been very poor recently and needs a confidence boost / loan.
Colback - worth keeping to see out games for the last few minutes. Days as a starter have gone!
Dennis - just not working and do not see how he makes the bench once Lingard is back / Scarpa is here.
Surridge - failed to take his chance. We need another back-up striker to make the match-day squad.
I can't really comment on the others as I only saw three minutes of highlights.

Can't we claim that Blackpool played an illegible player?
Or something...

They did have four stoppages to bring on a sub didn’t they? I thought you were only allowed three.

3 points from the Leicester game and this will be forgotten, couldn’t careless about their subs

I’m with Bunk unfortunately we turned into a meaningless match, people get over excited about nothing. Beat Wolves and Festa and this will be forgotten very quickly, by most.
