PSVR2 hands on

I was going to write a review of my experience with the PSVR2. But I would just be repeating most of what I have already posted.

So instead of me writing an essay for you to read, I thought it would make more sense to simply answer any specific questions you might have?

The big question: is it worth the money?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Overall I would say yes - a fantastic piece of kit from what I have seen. Right now unless you love GT then probably not as I don't think there are any real system sellers except GT, which even for me a none driving game type person I am almost considering building a rig

.......and of course, if Sony supports it

From a hardware perspective absolutely. This headset competes with the best headsets on the market at a far lower price. Bang for buck it is one of the best if not the best headsets available (as of now at least)

From a software perspective it depends on what you want to experience. There is already a varied and surprising amount of software available, certainly more than enough to keep most people entertained. with more coming.

VR is not perfected. there are many improvements that will come in the future, many based around processing and display. But if VR is something you are looking to explore. then this headset should be high on your list, especially for PS5 owners.

In fact I would go as far as to say. if you own a PS5, then PSVR2 would be well worth considering.

See, I love GT and I've done some VR racing on my parents' neighbour's Oculus/PC rig setup - thought it was great.

That being said, you're talking £500 for the VR2 and, what, another £200-300 for the racing rig? I'm not a competitive racer - I just do it for the enjoyment - so that seems a very steep price for one, small aspect of one hobby!

Well if all you are going to use PSVR2 for is Gran Turismo, then it might seem expensive. But most people will enjoy all sorts of other VR experiences.

VR simply gives you a whole new perspective when playing, that you can't get with a flat screen.

I get what you are saying Rooney, but you need to put in perspective (like what I done there? ) what a VR headset adds to these set ups. No1 is to get anywhere near what VR offers is you would need multiple TV/monitors and in pro rigs this is often what you see, and No2 is immersion, so even with multiple TVs to get a surround feeling you don't really get the surround feeling. Immersion is what VR gets you, and at a fraction of the cost of how it is done in other ways. Of course this doesn't work in all genres or for all games, but go play Super Hot on a flat screen, its a very cool and fun game......now play it in VR, completely different experience.

I'd love a Star Wars/Space fighting game in VR.

Flying around in an X Wing blowing Tie Fighters away in VR would be amazing.

Any news if there's such a game on the way? Or any type of space flying game?

There is a Star Wars game. But not based in space, but supposed to be pretty fun.

The closest thing I think there is to space flight at the moment is No Mans Sky

There is also a game called Project Wingman, which is supposedly coming to PSVR2. Not based in space, but a fun looking fighter jet game.

I'm sure there will be plenty of flight games coming to PSVR2. they are perfect for VR.

Already have one: No Man Sky I believe had a release day patch, and don't know if it's confirmed but sure they'll be an Elite update. There is also a Star Wars experience though I am not sure what that is all about
