Superb and done

For me that result at Hearts is a treble done for me, fear not one team at Hampden it was our slippy stone and tbh it was a breeze, I just don’t see anyone stopping Celtic

And then the gap between us and anything serious in Europe equally ridiculous (barring the recent run by Rangers). 2003 being the last before that by us.

Chances are that both gaps will just get bigger with maybe the odd run every 15-20 years.

So what do we do because it makes no sense to keep throwing money at businesses, taking more and more from a likely declining customer base; only to compete with each other in as restricted a market as you could get? And all based on the customers single desire to outscore each other when their trophy hauls are mental.

It doesn’t scream long term.

There are two opposing forces and I'm not convinced they can be resolved, not solely by the authorities in Scotland anyway. Income can be distributed more evenly across the teams here, perhaps by something like taking half of the gate money raised by all clubs and distributing or across the whole league. Obviously the clubs with bigger fanbases will cry foul there though. Any kind of internal redistribution like that though will inherently weaken our clubs in European competition.

It’s what we used to do and the OF screamed to have it stopped. Can’t see them changing their minds now and especially with Celtic being a PLC who has their responsibilities tied to shareholders interests.

Steve Clarke has offered an insight into why Greg Taylor was not selected in his Scotland squad for upcoming games against Spain and Cyprus.

The Celtic defender is arguably having the best season of his career under Ange Postecoglou, but there is no place for him in the international set-up for upcoming European qualifiers.

Asked about Taylor's omission, Clarke said: "I know Greg very very well. We have a good relationship. I have had a chat with him and he is fine.

"There are one or two little issues around that one, which is not for me to say. It is a Celtic matter."

Wouldn't be surprised if he's nursing an injury? He hasn't been as dynamic these last few matches he's played...?

A result of Angeball, maybe although it seems that teams playing pedestrian, side to side schite suffer injuries too these days?

I get that from a business perspective. From a fan's perspective though, I'd probably take reduced competitiveness in Europe in favour of a more interesting domestic league. Decent runs in Europe for either of our clubs are few and far between and I don't see that changing unless UEFA do a complete u-turn on their current approach to money distribution. I'd take an exciting league with 4 teams fighting for the title every year over a European run for my club every 15 years and a league where the winner takes 90+ points every season.

I see Craig Levein has solved Scottish football's problems - he wants to send the OF down to play in England then put us at a massive competitive disadvantage by having us pay £50m a year each in child support to the SPFL. Of all the solutions I've heard to Scottish football's problems, that is probably the most bonkers.

In an open market and free economy both CEO's would look to crush or smother it's competition. To create an opportunity to create a take over and create a monopoly.
Here though, it doesn't apply. The rival brand is too valuable.
Instead, Celtic will continue to try to win and make profit, without damaging Rangers brand too much. I expect Ange was supposed to be the Strachan type appointment, which might work, or could fill the squad with donkeys. Giving Gers a chance to recover. Seems we've had lots of luck there. An O'Neil return on lower wages you might say.

Both team's models should be to replicate Celtic's business plan of the past decade:
Something like:
1. Maintain an affordable squad which competes domestically & in Europa League.
2. Try win a domestic cup every 2 years.
3. Increase Euro rankings as often as possible.
4. Purchase at least 2 projects each season to rotate into 1st team.
5. Make CL groups as often as possible.
6. Get EL through 3rd spot the rest of the time.
7. Sell 1 star performer for £M's & another prospect for as much as possible to bigger leagues.
8. Use sell on clause to guarantee max profitability.
9. Use PR and acquisitions to enter new markets.
10. Don't plan for CL money year on year.

Spend less than you earn and maintain an average player age and salary cap to protect your investment. It's not rocket science. Apart from that, build a squad capable of winning.
