Kane's Future

Morning All..... Lots of press chatter in the past day or so re Kane's future. Couple of bits I noticed yesterday saying that Levy won't sell Kane this summer regardless of whether he signs a new contract. Also saw quite a bit of chat saying that United don't wanna get drawn into long painful & negotiation with Levy over a possible transfer, ETH wants a new striker but wants it done early in the window with everyone in place for the start of pre season.... Unlikely to happen with Levy's prize asset.

Just curious to see what everyone thinks ? Is keeping Kane for one more season really that valuable to Spurs that he will risk leaving 80mln+ on the table, Does Kane really want to leave now his Man City opportunity has passed or does levy have something in the works (New manager that Kane likes, or a major transfer spend this summer) ?

Hard to know how all this will play out but I can't help thinking Newcastle might be dark horses in all this.. They have the cash, they have the ambition, Kane can still go after Shearer's record and unless there's a massive change in approach from Levy, they are more likely to win something before Spurs

I have no clue how to feel about it. Obviously, I want him to stay, would have no issue with him if he wanted out, Understand Levy not wanting to sell but is it worth keeping him if we are not gonna build a team around him (No point him being leagues ahead of everyone else in the squad)

What say you ?

Doubt Newcastle guarantees Kane trophies in the short term.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Man City - no point
Arsenal - prob couldnt afford him and he wouldnt go
Chelsea - could afford him , he wouldnt go
Man Utd - the only other domestic options for him IMO.
Newcastle - they are still a way off winning things
Real Madrid - Kane wont go there this summer with Benzema still there, his contract runs out next year however.
Barca - couldnt afford him
Bayern - make sense -can afford him and will defo win things, and they need a striker.
PSG - same as Bayern, can afford him and will defo win things, need a striker.

thats the only options i think that are viable.

If he goes this year it will be either PSG or Bayern, if its next year it will be between they two and Real Madrid IMO. Sending him to Man Utd just lessens Spurs chances of future trophies.

Shearer and Lineker are hailed as great players and they truly were. They have 1 domestic medal each.

David May has a hatful, Kalvin Phillips will have a load. Whose achievements go down in history, who are held in the highest regard - Lineker, Shearer and Kane because they were are are truly world class performers who achievements will endure even if those achievements are not best measured in medals.

For me its like a classic tune or album that is still remembered and respected now, 30 or 40 years on from its release, but never made it to number one.

its just seems set that you only think it will be Man Utd he will leave for.

do you think Shearers record means more to him than actually winning things?

He still has 5/6 years in him I reckon at the top, he could easily move to PSG/Bayern for mega bucks for 2/3 years and return to EPL if Spurs are not willing to sell to another EPL team
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well indeed, but i dont think he will and have given my reasons.

It is a massive individual achievement that says more about him and his ability than any team trophy. Christs sake David May has a packed medal cabinet, Champions League winner. It doesnt mean he's a great player just that he played in a great team - Kalvin Phillips may win a few this season, having played about 20 minutes of meaningful football.

Kane wants that record and will want to blow it out of the water. If Real or Barca came in for him then he has a big decision to make, not Bayern or PSG...that would be like signing for Celtic to win things in a one horse race.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
no winning medals doestn qualify you as a great player, thawst not why i think Kane would want them.

the very existence and meaning of football is to win things. Kane has already shown he is a great player, he cannot show his medals.

“The very existence and meaning of football is to win things …..”
Now there’s a statement
What a load of absolute rubbish. Try telling that to long standing and loyal fans of just about most clubs who aren’t realistically going to win anything any time soon. Do they concur with you, that the very existence and meaning has gone for them?? Of course not. It’s about entertainment, being part of something, a kind of tribal community of fans supporting the same team, the history and the rivalries.
It’s not all about trophies, at least not for fans.

what is the objective of football.... to have fun or win the game ?

do the judge teams on how much they enjoyed themselves? or do they judge teams on what they win?

does the league get determind by how much joy a team had that year ort is it by the team that won more.

the sole objective of the professional game is to win.

I can't see any reason why Kane would sign a new deal, which means we should look to sell if we get £70m+

Personally if i were Kane I'd see out the contract then go to Madrid/Barca. He's 5 years younger than Benzema/Lewa and imo would get a few years as their main striker. Would also get a huge contract given he'd be free.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is probably the right answer.
Real Madrid have already made enquires, it is rumored. Kane would be well paid, and certainly would be playing in a squad that will win something.
And Levy will sell to RM.
All that Levy talk about letting his contract run down is total drivel.
Levy ain't doing that!

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep, Levy won't do 2 things no matter what!

1. Sell to Utd
2. Let Kane run down his contract

I do think if right money was offered by Bayern, Levy would sanction this and let him go there.

I can't see why would RM go for Kane tbh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
RM need to upgrade their aging striker force, that's why.

But will they get him?
Not if PSG can stop it.
So Kane is the choice target...and contracts etc all up for grabs.
Betting is Kane to RM.
