Washington Football Team

So the Washington football team which some of you may have heard by their previous name the Washington Redskins just accepted an offer of $6bn to be sold.

That’s about 4.8bn pounds. Way over their real value.

The glazers who own the Buccs will have seen this and I hope this hasn’t further emboldened their stance on the value of United and made a sale far harder

Global popularity isn’t that important when NFL is monetised the way it is.

NFL franchises shouldn’t really be used as a reference to make valuations on football clubs. If this does end up being the case, it would be further evidence of how clueless they are.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The fact they were valued at 5.6bn before the economy took a pounding and the owner is being essentially forced out of ownership, coupled with just how bad they are and in need of serious investment in training facilities and stadium makes someone paying 6bn ludicrous

US franchises obviously are bad example but the commanders or whatever they call themselves now will show the glazers you can still get a premium

- used to be a hugely successful team in the nfl just like United in the PL
- owners pressured to sell
- urgent infrastructure investment needed

This will embolden their stance

Unsuprisngly most are US teams, and what seems like self appointed valuations to me.

It's laughable how outside of America,NFL is way less popular than football globally.

But they are an insular lot and think America is the world. They even advertise the Superbowl winner as "world champions".

Daft lot.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s not just the NFL. The NBA and MLB do it too, although there are Canadian teams.

When America lost the “World Cup” of baseball this month to Japan, it was strange seeing so many “world champions” still being “world champions” after they lost the world championship

This will embolden their stance

And if it does it shows how stupid they are.

The investment needed wouldn’t compare to the investment needed in United’s infrastructure, especially when American franchises get the tax payer to pay for it. Plus they just don’t have the same financial guarantees as football clubs. They need to be looking at Chelsea for a frame of reference, not a facking NFL franchise in a business that is rigged for the owners to maximise profits.

We do have shares, which means we have a valuation based on them.

US sports teams are far wealthier than footy teams anyway. Far better run businesses too. Footy is eating itself and nobody is smart enough to do something about it.

Helps they don’t have to pay transfer fees and have to abide by a salary cap which sees them lose key players every year and constantly rebuild

There’s also nearly as many professional football clubs in England alone as there are franchises in the big American sports. It’s comparing apples with oranges.

The Redskins have been as badly run by Sneijder as we have by the Glazers. He actually interferes with the football side of things as well..

Their stadium, like ours needs rebuilding / upgrading as well.’
