Derby County 1 - 0 Burton Albion

DERBY COUNTY v BURTON ALBION.............. League 1 # 44

Pride Park Stadium 1500 Saturday 22nd April 2023

Just a throwback to the Bass Vase when Bass ruled Burton and their biggest crowd of the season was the pre-season friendly with their mates up the A38

Derby still keen on prolonging the agony of being 7th.....or 8th.....after yet another masterclass in nearly droppin points in a game they dominated or at least controlled v Exeter City.

However, it may work in our favour if the players are still buzzing as was alleged after the victory during the week. Peterborough play Ipswich and we will know exactly what we have to do after.

So, simple really

Anyway, a match beckons and after the implosion v Bristol Rovers there will still be a will to make amends. It was a game where shortcomings were apparent which left Warne a little shocked - its not an easy league to get out of as they say.

Anyway, I'm off to bully a colleaguebefore disrupting the London Marathon on Sunday

Team news:- Wildsmith (GK), Forsyth, Hourihane, Cashin, Bird, McGoldrick, Mendez-Laing, Roberts, Sibley, Davies (C), Knight

Subs:- McGee (GK), Barkhuizen, Collins, Smith, Dobbin, White, Rooney

The other team..MacGillivray (GK), Brayford (C), Oshilaja, Hughes, Powell, Taylor, Moon, Shaughnessy, Helm, Carayol, Ashworth ………Substitutes: Garratt (GK), Winnall, Kirk, Smith, Walker, Ahadme, Latty-Fairweather..

Still doesn’t make a tremendous amount of sense. The only way we can put it to bed against Portsmouth is if Peterborough lose the same day. Otherwise it will go to the final game.

Sorry vidal you're wrong, if we beat Portsmouth, Peterborough HAVE to win to stay in contention.

With a Derby win and a Peterborough draw, we'd have 78 points and Peterborough 74, with only three more up for grabs.

Finishing 3rd also avoids stupid Friday evening and Saturday lunchtime kick-off times.

He's got you over a barrel there, Vidal

He’s simply trying to deflect from his original erroneous statement that we need to put it to bed against Portsmouth. This is not possible without Peterborough failing to win. And let’s face it, failing to win is pretty much the same as losing. I think people are splitting hairs here.

In other news, vidal considers politics as his next career move.

Not really. What he said is factually correct 🤔
