Speed please!

Was it naivety or too much respect for Real?
Some good shots at goal, but noticed we lacked punch. Grealish should have tried to wade through their defense which he can, and can easily win fouls, instead of many passes backwards and sideways.
Managing a game against Real is quite tricky and risky considering their pace. Pacy Foden and Alvarez suitable players against Real I believe. I hope Pep makes changes.

Carvajal is getting slaughtered in the press today.

We need to get Foden and Grealish to attack on that side continously because I reckon there's a mistake in him.

Kroos could easily have been sent off for his thigh high tackle on Gundo and then his ridiculous dive to try to get Kev booked so yes, running at them is a sensible tactic I should think.

I think the simple answer is you were playing Real Madrid, they are a great side and they know how to win the UCL.

City are in great shape at the moment but Madrid getting the job done in Manchester would not be a surprise to anyone

It would be a surprise to me, I think you'll win.
Then again I am in last place in the KOP prediction league.

Madrid are incredibly experienced and savvy, it quickly became clear the referee was lenient, and they completely capitalised on that. Carvajal could easily have had two yellows in the space of two seconds for the unecessary barge on Grealish followed by the dive. It was exactly the same at their place last year, such a hard place to go.

I don’t think they are strong at either FB position. For me the problem we’ve got is as well as Ake and Akanji can fill in at LB, they won’t get on the overlap, so Grealish didn’t get much support. I’d be tempted to put Bernardo in for Gundogan, so there’s a bit more threat coming down the left. Then on the right Walker will get up, but also has Vinicius constantly in mind. I’d go Mahrez on the right at home, bit more direct and good eye for a goal in the big moments.

No qualms with the team selection whatsoever last night, but we’ve done the sparring now and a couple of tweaks along with the home advantage will hopefully get us through 🤞🙏

Storms also dived, the ball went out for your goal, I think everything evened itself out in the end.

Grealish attacking carvajal definitely felt like your best bet, but he seems to have had that directness traine sour of him.

The ball might of gone out you mean? There is no evidence to suggest it definitely did. The bein sport computer drawing isn't proof because the red line is drawn halfway into the white line. If anything that makes me think it was just in as it has to be all of the ball over.

Expected better from Carlo, he clearly isn't sure yet he is making out they are robbed. Also Real had the ball back after that, so he should be blaming his player for needlessly giving it away.

Then he brings up giving yellows on the pitch and not to him?? He should be praising the ref for keeping it in his pocket. As it clearly favored Real that he was lenient.
