Firstly I want to start of by commenting on the..er...ahem..."legend" that is James O'Conner (Did I just say that ). What I dont get is that earlier in his career whilst at Stoke and Burnley, he was what they call an "Unsung Hero" and well thought of by respective fans, even Burnley were somewhat desperate to keep him. Yet when he comes here he has helped us to two relegations (not saying its all his fault though mind) & a medicocre lower midtable finish last season (again not all his doing) was he something of a Claude Makelele or something? But now here we are, sitting in forth and in good form, 3 in 3 and all those games are the one that JOC started, abiet out of postion on either wing.
Now, as many of you know, ive never been his biggest worshiper via previous experience of watching his many bad performances but is he now starting to find a bit of form at long long last? maybe he has something about him that he has never shown to us previously? Was he so out of form that he forgotten how to kick a ball and tackle? I dont know but it seems that playing him on the right or left seems to be a good luck charm. Yes he has always tried and worked hard which I have never critisized him for so I just hope that he starts to show what he can do, maybe he does things that others dont notice but if we keep winning with him in the side then I wont complain.
Moving onto Jesus, when he returns from injury he'll find himself, in my opinion waiting for his chance coz Lines is the man that we have been needing to create chances and link Midfield to attack and that isnt Jesus's way, for defensive tactics in the 4,5,1 formation he'll be more suited as he can help Semedo protect the defence allowing Lines to support the lone striker but given our current form 4,5,1 isnt going to be an option. Playing 4,4,2 with Semedo & Jesus together simply dosnt work as it will starve strikers such as McGoldrick of service through the middle.
Therefore I think that Jesus may have a long wait to get back into the side, not just because Lines and Semedo are playing well together but also theres the difference between Lines and Jesus as they are different kinds of players, yes Jesus can get forward well and can score the odd decent goal but is primarily a defensive midfeilder and is a bit simular to Semedo. Lines however has the ability to create chances and has an eye for goal too which is needed more.
Anyway sorry for the "War & Peace-esque" length of this article but just wanted to put a few things accros as Ive not dont an articcle for a while.
