I don't really come on here much any more, but the reaction to this Kane sale has smoked me out.
While I understand (and share) the disappointment, I have to say that as a fanbase, the reaction to it has been absolutely embarrassing. Grown men acting like spoilt children. They say no man is bigger than the club, but anyone would be forgiven for thinking otherwise when it comes to this.
The man it abundantly clear that he had no intention to sign, so the club chose to control the move and take money for the player, rather than allow him to run down his deal and lose all control of his destination. That is hardly a controversial decision. Whether or not you agree with that, you are of course entitled to your view, but I can assure you that the club existed before Kane, and last time I checked, it still exists, and in all likelihood it will exist after every single person on this forum has died.
Proper tiny mentality of our fanbase throwing their toys out the pram over this, when if we are being honest, he has been wanting out for years, and we have probably been lucky to have him for as long as we did.
It is now a fresh start, Son with the captaincy, new manager, new players, new system, and the painful rebuild might actually now be taking place.
This will be my 28th year actively watching spurs, and I have seen world class players come and go, and this is another one. In this system, and with the quality we have, and will no doubt add, we will be absolutely fine. Let idiots like Merson think that we will be bottom half finishers now because we have lost 30 goals. He probably can't even count to 30.
It is a blow to the playing staff and the manager, and the team need us that first home game to be a supportive fanbase, for once, rather than just moan about Levy / ENIC (while continuing to give them our money) as if that will have any impact whatsoever. If we actually focus and get behind the boys, good things will happen.

Don't get the OP. If you're not disappointed with how this all ended up and just going to pretend like everything is fine then go ahead. But it isn't. You make out like there's nothing there club could've done to make Kane stay. It's endemic failure. That's why he's left. We could've stayed in the CL and maybe won a cup in all those years if we'd be run properly. People hate Arsenal but we were well ahead of them under Poch. It's just gone backwards.
I do think it's embarrassing that people are blaming Kane, coming out with strange statements like they're glad he's gone, hoping he fails or gets injured or whatever. But you're not kidding anyone by being fine with this. Unless you're dead inside. This is a crap moment to be a Spurs fan
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I couldn`t be happier to be a Spurs fan. If you want to be miserable and wallow in self pity, then your call, but don`t bring the rest of us down with you. I am with Chronic 100 per cent on this. Our fans do have small time mentality. You don`t see other clubs supporters go into meltdown when one of their best players departs, they just move on. As Spurs fans should to.
The meltdown over Pochettino leaving was embarrassing, I suspect this will be just as bad. It`s pathetic.

Where did I meltdown exactly? This isn't a big shock or anything. I think what I said was perfectly reasonable

There's an important difference between being mad or sad that Kane has gone, and being frustrated at the reasons he wanted out. It's the same thing we all want - success on the pitch. Yeah big picture we'll move on but it sums up the whole ENIC era that we couldn't win a single thing in all that time, with a regular top 4 squad, the regular PL top scorer. And in fact got worse while we had the best opportunity in a long time to the best we'd been in that whole 20 years.
But yeah. Get on your high horses like it's all fine. Winning nothing is fine. Finishing 8th is fine

At the end of the day kane could have committed to Spurs the offer was there he didn’t want to we move on but to me leaving cause you want to was a slap in the face to all fans .
So thanks Harry for the goals good luck and all that we will be fine enjoy the trophies in the one team league.
We’ve had it before with Bale , Arsenal had it with Henry , Barcelona had it with Messi , United with Ronaldo and so on.
Right now we need players that will give it a 120% on the pitch and run through brick walls to give us fans something to believe in.
I’m looking forward to the new season , some sexy football to watch for the first time In years .

I think people are missing the point here.
Yes we are upset our greatest ever player has left but let’s be clear he’s only left because the club is a facking mess and has been for years.
4 managers
2 interims
A DOF signed and let go due to corruption charges
All while levy given himself a big wage, furloughed staff, put ticket prices up.
Here’s a quote from Harry
“I’ve always said as long as the club is moving in the right direction and showing the right ambition, I want to be part of the journey,” Kane told ESPN.
Well he’s gone so make of that what you will.

Spurs are such a poorly run football club.... Webhave chased Tapsoba all window and are some way apart on valuation... So why sign Philips ??? Use the money spent on him to get Tapsoba over the line... we did the same thing with Porro for last year... Facked about on price having just wanted money on Spense who never played. This whole "club signing" thing is utter BS !! we act like we are Man city ... buying young players who we can integrate in time into a winning format... we've been a total hacking mess for the past 5 years.,. Spend the money on players who make us better NOW !!! No wonder Kane left !!
Bayern want to win the CL now and have just bet the mortgage on a world class player in Kane getting them there !!!... Typical spurs taking their eye off the ball, focusing on profit and thinking they are better than they are !

Bayern have zero chance of winning the CL. They are not that great now, and Dortmund gifted them the title last season.
Every chance Bayern will win SFA this season.

A section of our fan base are a huge part of our problem, some of them are just content to play some exciting football, others will go to extraordinary lengths to defend ENIC and Levy, while others are willing to accept mediocrity.
Our fan base should be demanding winning football, and demanding a level of ambition commensurate with our ticket prices and revenues.
A lot of our fans give Levy an easy ride in the face of 23 years of limited sporting ambition.
Our top level players can not see a path to glory and have to leave to realize their ambitions, and yet some of our fans are happy drift along as long as the football is entertaining.
It`s no wonder this club wins fack all and is the laughing stock of British football.

Total rubbish to be honest OP. This has nothing to do with simply Kane leaving, it's all about him being yet another World Class talent to leave without winning because we as a club are not properly run by Levy.
We've gone from Champions League to Europa League to Conference League to no European League whilst hiring and sacking multiple managers.
Yes, the decision to sell him to Bayern for a huge sum is in isolation the best move for the club. This is not about that alone. You talk about the club needing fans, fans HAVE been there through thick and thin for decades. You say 28 years yourself.. what have we won in that period?
ENIC's primary goal is balancing the books and becoming commercially valuable. Whether that comes with trophies along the way or not - they really do not care. By all accounts, Levy could mean well and genuinely love the club but he does not see through his own incompetences.
Fans have every right to be frustrated. We would have accepted a year or two of a decline during Pochettino's days whilst we rebuilt the team but the financials were too risky for Levy and it's not paid off. That isn't to say Pochettino would have worked miracle but he had enough credit left and the managers chosen vs. signings made do not align. We forced Spence on Conte for example. There are many other points to be made.
I was furious a while ago and saw no hope for this club. To be honest, i'm much more upbeat now. The 'sad' part of that is that it doesnt come from me believing we will do well. Its from accepting our mediocrity and deleting all my expectations/ hope. Back to square one (yet again) where fans are having to be pleased with the odd run of wins and good football that succumbs to nothing at the end. Underdog mentality but without a bite.
