Klopp finally calls out FSG

He’s been utterly loyal to FSG since he arrived at the club. However I think this summer he’s been thrown under the bus by John Henry and co and he has had to defend himself. Jurgen’s quote on the summer shambles:

———————

"We have our situation. There was one year when money was less of an issue because Phil (Coutinho) went to Barcelona"

"Since I've been here, we have had to (live within our means). The club has had to, and of course that doesn't make it easier. The problem is not our situation, it's just in comparison to the other main teams. We have to be on point. That's pretty much the thing. There is not a lot of space for failure"

"There are times when I would like to take more “risks" in the transfer market — but I accept the club's budgetary constraints"

"I'm not in charge of what we spend"

“I want to improve the squad I absolutely do. But I have all the information around and I know what is possible and not possible, and it's not always exactly what I want."

———————————————————————-

So what the hell was that bid for Caicedo??? At the time Klopp seemed surprised we had made a bid for the player and was totally embarrassed when it was made clear Caicedo had no interest in joining us at all. I think this ‘bid’ was a publicity stunt and there was never any chance the money would then be made available for other players. We have defaulted back to the scenario Klopp describes in his quote and we ended up signing a DM for a bargain basement price.

I think we will have have to wait for Salah to be flogged off to Saudi before any real money becomes available and I’m sure if they could, FSG would be happy to see this done before the transfer window shuts.

The constraints Klopp refers to are wholly ones that FSG put in place. They do not want to put the money into the club and if Chelsea have proved one thing this season that the FFP rules are not a factor in making investments when it comes to bringing in new players.

Incredibly it’s all on a knife edge because somehow Klopp has managed to give us an exciting if brittle team to carry our hopes, but I think if the season is a failure then it will be Klopps last one at the club.

Time for FSG to move on, they’ve steadied the ship but that’s not enough for a club the size of LFC I’d like to see new owners with the ambition that Shanks had when he was here and that Klopp shares to this day.

We've got £100m to spend on a quality CB and CM and that's your solution? Just so you get the satisfaction of seeing us save money.

Next you'll be telling me that Tyler Morton can do a job in Midfield for us as well. 😂😂😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No that's not my solution. You've completely made that up. My solution is to buy two players, which is the same as the club's solution who have been and still are trying to buy the two players. However if we can't get the right standard of player in, in an emergency, that's the solution. We'd have to be very unlucky for that to happen however.

And yes, young players can do a job and have done throughout the clubs history if you care to read up on it.

"Trying to sign players" A comment straight out of the pro-FSG manual.

What this consists of is making an enquiry and baulking at the asking price or offering a disgraceful lowball amount which is rejected out of hand.

Meanwhile, the likes of Chelsea and City stop faffing, pay the asking price, and get the job done. 👍

Or having bids accepted for the two players you praised Chelsea for signing, who both chose Chelsea.

Also City have pulled out of multiple deals past few seasons when they didn't like the cost.

Off the top of my head as more recent examples:
Cucurella
Rice
Ronaldo

Now we have to ask ourselves why players are choosing Chelsea over us. They're not in Europe and a mess roght now. Might it be because they value the players highly and offer them contracts that show that high value?

London. We offered Caicedo more than Chelsea. We also met his asking price before Chelsea.

We spent three weeks haggling with Southampton over 5 million for Lavia, then jumped in with a ‘bid’ for a player who never showed any inclination to join us. Add to that Lavia deciding to join Chelsea too and you have part of the shambles this summer has been. Our club don’t seem to have a clue who they are actually interested in.

If Caicedo was the man why were we not bidding for him as soon as the summer transfer window opened? No planning no thought. Just a shambles.

We didn't know Saudi were going to come in for Fabinho and Henderson when the transfer window opened.

Look, I support constructive criticism and there is a lot of material to criticise about the club, but this is where I can't stand wrist slitters. I'm sure you've read what happened with Lavia and Caicedo many times. It's been mentioned twice on this, your own thread.

Criticise all you want, but at least stick to facts. Is that too much to ask?

What shambles FFS? We knew from the start that Caicedo was probably off to Chelsea as we had spoken to Brighton, so we had written him off, but nearly 3 months down the line Chelsea had not wrapped up the deal, so we went back in and tried to get him. Didn't work but you want us to play with the big boys and get big players yet still moan and castigate the club when they try to do that?

Lavia also had history with Chelsea as Chelsea tried to buy him from Southampton last summer, immediately after they signed him from City.

It is too much to ask. Some on here, like the OP, aren’t happy unless they’re miserable by the looks of it. A personal favourite being Ttliv moaning literally minutes after we’d just won either the super cup or WCC on pens.

Funniest thing is some of these idiots didn’t moan this much when we hadn’t won the league for 30 years. I could understand it if we were like Tottenham and had won fook all.
