Sam Greenwood

11 games for Middlesboro and 4 goals.

Loan with an agreed buy price of £1.5M.

Was a great player for our U21s
Used rarely until Jesse March played him as a defensive midfielder
Never got a chance in his best position at Leeds
Never got a loan to the championship to see what he could do.

How did Leeds come up with a decision to agree a price of £1.5m
They fundamentally had very little to go on but March's attempt to destroy his career.

The Boro loan left us in two places
1) He fails and comes back to Leeds in the same position he left.
2) He succeeds but with a ceiling of £1.5M our best result. If he scores 20 goals we have a £10m player sold for £1.5M

Who makes these decisions? Cant blame Orta for this one.
35-yard free kick into the top corner today was pretty special.

Kinnear out! Marathe out!

Welcome any Boro fans to discuss Greenwood's performances to date.

well, I'll have to take my original stance then

are we 110% sure the fee is 1.5 million? - and how do we know this wasn't a deal breaker from boro? - and if it was, isn't it better than having him at Leeds, paying his wages and never using him? (assuming the manager didn't see him as part of his plans) - because wages are something else the doomers seem to cry about too?

no guarantees in football, gota be honest, sounds like the best thing for the lad too, on a human level.

I might well pop back to whiterose and get my self to menkind for that crystal ball, so I can be as clued up and miserable as you lot

If deal breaker say no, there would have been plenty of suitors

Yes great deal for him, looking likely a great deal for Boro. A bad one for us

Firstly, is there actual confirmation from either club that £1.5m is the fee? All I’ve seen is “reports suggest” and “reports from The Athletic”

Secondly, if he can go for £1.5m, maybe that’s what the club value him at at this point in his career? Based on the games he’s played for us I certainly wouldn’t put his value much higher.

Thirdly, he took 3 points off our main rival on Saturday. Those points might end up being worth a lot more than £1.5m to our club come next May.

Lastly - I’m pleased he’s got a move that might help him further his career. I couldn’t see him doing that with us unfortunately. Much as I like him as a player.

Stoopo

Another one who has completely missed Kebab’s post.

I really dont think it’s hard to understand, but for some reason it is 🤦

He might, go on to struggle all season, and end up being out of the team.

The £1.5m fee is then irrelevant, they simply will not excise that clause.

But if he goes on, and gets another 10 goals, plays really well, they will excise the £1.5m

A young midfielder who does that, is worth alot more than £1.5m.

Thats Kebabs point, why handicap yourself with such a low figure.

Its not rocket science, whats hard about it 🤷🏻‍♂️

fully agree stoops.

LIW, I'm not sure people are 'not understanding' I think people that don't think its all that bad are seeing it more from a none blinkered Leeds point of view.

Its good for the lad on a human level mostly, the rest is guesswork and here say.

too many ifs, and maybe's... IF he has a very average season, but settled at boro, then its about par all round.

it just seems the lad scores a sensational free kick and the more 'serious fan' can potentially see a financial loss somewhere.. again tho, its November and nobody knows sod all yet

hence my crystal ball comment in the opening gambit

thing is Kebab, its al very well you being speechless because some people aren't seeing it from your point of view - you can at least knock greenwood off your list in your monthly article of 'Leeds plyers still being paid wages for not playing' - because lets be honest, if he hadn't of scored that free-kick, you or nobody else wouldn't have even noticed
