Tommy Taylor

Another killed at Munich. It was a sad loss for every victim, but in purely football terms it was particularly sad, because he was a great striker.
I've looked up his scoring record in the past, I can't remember it now but it was impressive.
We signed him from Barnsley , I think it was just under a hundred thousand because Matt didn't want him saddled with the record fee.
He was quite tall, taller than Duncan, and really good in the air, not a big surprise. But he was also good on the floor, fast and a good finisher, I can't remember with what foot, or both.
He always looked a bit gormless to me, but probably wasn't. I think it's because he often had his mouth open like Kane. Actually thinking about it they were similar players.
My neighbour who used to take me said he was the biggest loss to the team
I believe he was a nice man, and popular in the team
The crash was s long time ago, common knowledge, but many on the site werent even born, so I like to pass on my impressions as a boy then, and a fan.

Geoff Bent. Just a line. I know he died in the crash, but I have nothing to say about him. If I saw him play I've forgotten.

Always sad when young gifted players lose their lives suddenly.

I've always appreciated talent (despite the rivalry) especially players at top clubs like Liverpool, United, City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle.

Great clubs with great history.

His stats were amazing, he really was killed in his prime. I think he would've made a difference for England at the World Cup in 1958. He also went to school with Dickie Bird who turned 90 this year so it shows how long ago the Munich disaster was now.

Mark Jones who was also sadly killed in the Munich disaster came from Barnsley too. Back then his sister (or parents) found out about his death from a telephone box, had to dial a number and a recorded message confirmed who had perished. Tragic.
