I must admit I thought I would miss

Spurs not playing European football this season, but I haven`t missed it one bit. It`s quite nice having a breather from football for a week or two, and I never thought I would say that. Obviously a few quid for the club goes missing, with no midweek football, but that is more than offset I would imagine by all the other income from American football, concerts, boxing events etc that take part at WHL, so don`t suppose Daniel Levy is overly concerned.

Although having said that, European football is currently so poor in general, that it is pretty well nailed on English clubs will lift all three trophies this season, maybe even have all the finalists (although I think only Villa are in the Conference, so maybe not in that competition). Would have given Spurs a good chance of lifting a trophy I suppose, injuries aside.

Anyway it is what it is, and a season or two without European football won`t be all that bad. Give the club a chance to renergise the squad over the next season or two, and then have a more serious go at domestic trophies.

On to the weekend, City this Sunday. not expecting much, but then with football you just never know. Anyway it`s a bit of a free hit, so as long as performance is OK, I can live with another defeat. A few players should be up and running then for West Ham midweek, where I would like to think Spurs will win, although West Ham are getting a lot of late winners, without playing that well, but I think Spurs even with the injuries will be to strong.

Sandy mate, I know spurs are in free fall but this is a little extreme.

I’m sure you can manage an 8th place finish and try and do what West Ham did and win the conference
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Pranks, Spurs are not in free fall Four points off the top, with 10 injuries and suspensions. Be back in amongst it when the injuries subside.

No need to worry about Spurs.

I see that idiot Sizzle has spat the dummy again. The illiterate fool thinking anything written in this thread reflects a small time attitude that we dont want Europe.

He's getting worse. Must be off his meds, the cowardly filter monkey!

As for us, we need more players and Europa level football at least. I don’t like how spaced out the games are for us, it feels like an eternity since that Chelsea game because we’ve only played twice since.

Agree with Tarricco - we need to start trying to win these comps also, although the farmers trophy would feel quite hollow given the absolute poverty of opposition

I dont buy this small squad this, not big enough for 2 fronts that. Apart from our CB area, the squad is fine, just been very unlucky getting all the injuries at once. Lo celso is adequate to back up madders - you are not gonna get a better quality player for back up, ever. CM is stacked pretty much with decent options. Wing is also stacked although quality could be slightly improved, and up front we are light tbf.

Do West Ham, Brighton, Villa have a much bigger depth than us? They’ve all qualified with a game to spare, playing thurs-sun and it hasn’t affected their league form too much. Brighton have actually got loads of injuries, but their academy and coaching is just so good.

All the excuses we’ve given over the years of thurs-sun has been completely disproven this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Good post. But I think European sides are dire this season. Quality all across Europe is poor. Hence much easier for English clubs. The fact West Ham won a so called European trophy last season, shows how poor it is.

Anything less than English clubs winning all three European trophies would be a failure.

I'd be relieved too, your weak squad has already been exposed without European football. Imagine embarrassing yourselves in the group stages again.

I think it's sort of a fair comment to be honest. We'd have no chance of achieving Arsenals coveted 'last 16 trophy' this season, so it's better that we're not involved this time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The coveted trophies Arsenal win are actual real trophies. Spurs should try it sometime
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Like their one European trophy to Spurs three European trophies.

On your bike sunshine.

CL faves are City, Europa faves are Liverpool and the Farmers league faves are Villa.

It’s poverty out there at the moment, bar the very elite - Real, Barca, Bayern. Even PSG look a bit schitt.

Liverpool are miles ahead of any other side in the Europa - although they could see Newcastle and United in the Europa with them son which would add interest.

Villa should walk their comp - but have really laboured this group stage at times. Emery is a master of secondary Euro comps though so they will probably come good in the end given this isn’t even a secondary comp

TBF I only said it would add interest - watching Onana throw a few in. I reckon the Geordies would be tough though - they’ve looked good at times in Eurooe

Do we have a small squad OR don't we have a small squad?
Certainly the injuries, compounded with the cards, have left us with a "small squad" that is nowhere near as good as the first team.
Even Assieglue is today quoted as saying we'll have to go into the transfer market in January to buy a midfielder! (ref: Sky Sports!)
Yes, he says its injuries plus ACON!
Who would you think he has in mind?
