Refs vs Arteta/Arsenal......Refs win

I noticed a couple of tweets criticising yesterday's refereeing decisions not to award Arsenal those penalties.

We need to realize that following Arteta's stinging attack on the PGMOL there is no way on earth Arsenal with get those 50-50 decisions in its favour - one wonders if we ever got those decisions in the first place. Just note and accept that if any ref gives Arsenal a PK, it will have to be clear cut and rubber-stamped.

The PGMOL is definitely cross with Arteta (and Arsenal as a whole) so I truly do not expect any favours from refs till further notice. Clubs like Utd, City, Spurs and Liverpool have enjoyed those soft/50-50 PK calls and I just dont see us having those privileges.

I fear for our title chances with this unwinnable war between the Refs vs Arteta/Arsenal

You're surely not suggesting that football is a crooked event 😀

No, you could argue that they would be wary of screw!ng us over again & strengthening Arteta’s case - I just put it down to their incompetence.

I accept that the Saka one is arguable & certainly not clear & obvious but the Gabriel Penalty shout is STONEWALL - he’s got a foot of Gabriel’s shirt & yanks him away from the ball!

Doing VAR is a difficult job in real time but the bottom line is that some of the officials we have at the moment are just not up to that job.

We all love a bit of passion, but Arteta seriously needs to wind his neck in.

Sure, his booking against Luton was soft. But this was his 4th booking of the season if we include his yellow card against City in the Community Shield. And we're not even halfway through the season yet.

It's more than just a "reputation" at this point.

But he's a young manager. There's plenty of time left for him to mellow out.

It's a mess across the board tbh with you. The gabriel one was a stonewall for me.
Just inconsistency of when VAR is used.

Mudryk was taken out, no attempt to play the ball v brighton, ref gave nothing, but luckily var checked that one...and even then milner wasn't sent off.

The ref then gave a pen for the ball hitting colwill in the head.

The whole level of officiating is a mess.

I think we need a whole new roster of refs, trained under one set of guidelines for 6 months/1 year, doing 5 aside games, working their way up the league (the same 20 refs say) with classroom education etc and then out with the old and in with the new.

All signing from the same hymbook.

it's a mess atm

Arteta doesn't act much different to other managers, they just treat him and arsenal differently.

You saw the difference in how the media acted when the man city players reacted to the poor ref decision on Sunday.

Refs have been blatantly against us for over two decades now. We play against 12 on the pitch, a few on the side and a few in the VAR box 9/10 games domestically.

To get through a game and honestly feel the ref was neutral or even gave us the benefit of doubt for a change is about as rare and unlikely as a 3 legged zebra escaping a cheetah.

Point is, we're used to it, we're partly numb, partly sick and tired of it. Some of our fans are so used to it now they have been brainwashed into thinking it's normal and don't even realise how severe it is.

They can't really step it up that much from where it already was, there's nowhere to go really, they already try their best to rob of us points in most matches, try their best to rule our goals out and make insane calls to avoid giving us decisions we should get. Not to mention turning a blind eye to many nasty fouls against us.
