Prior to the Rotherham game, Farke talked about how a large quota of the first team had been away on international duty and as we had been selected for the Friday night game this had given him little opportunity to train other than with a small group of players, those who were fit and not representing their countries.
Prior to the Sunderland game, Farke talked about the fact that only those not actually involved in Blackburn's game had the opportunity to train, those who played only had the opportunity to work on tactics but he also alluded to the advantage that Sunderland had, having back to back home games, access to their training ground, being able to sleep in their own beds etc.
The guys were certainly not up for either game, what contributed to that I don't know.

No excuses for Coventry. They've all slept in their own beds, or i imagine they have.

Interruptions to routine can indeed play havoc, but they are training and playing pretty regularly, that I'm not sure I see too much substance regarding these sorts of complaints.

We need that Sunderland game put behind us and dust ourselves up to use an old cliche !

If we beat Coventry well we're on our way ...

Coventry is a home banker imo. Our away performances and lack of midweek squad rotation does concern me slightly. Still a long way to go and if we earn 10+ points more than Ipswich manage in the second half of the season, we'll probably be the ones promoted. This season is far more exciting and enjoyable that the cr4p we had in our previous 2 prem campaigns minus Raphinha.

I wondered whether psychologically Farke's negativity in those two press conferences had an impact, that in both of those games the language he used beforehand was tantamount to waving the white flag.
Kind of like saying if we don't get a result from these games, this is the reason why.
I wonder whether the players picked up on that, but it may well just be a coincidence.
I haven't listened enough to the other press conferences to hear the kind of language he uses but I did listen to those two and those two statements struck me as less than positive.

Like the title of the thread Dennis, sounds so much better than excuses, but in this reality amounts to much the same. Just looking at Coventry’s results, they lost 2-1 at Leicester and Ipswich and their worst result was at Rotherham 2-0…so we need to be on our game!
