Forest v Blackpool 2 - FAC - Match Thread

Ah…Blackpool. The destroyer of dreams. Last time out they humbled us 4-1 in the FA Cup (in a game I can’t remember) thankfully!

Blackpool will be up for this, especially after their last visit to the East Midlands, beating Derby 2-0 in the EFL Cup first round.

This should serve as an opportunity for a few of our squad to stake a claim, before AFCON kicks off.

However, before we get into the stats, how good was it beating Newcastle and Man United!!

The Good: It wasn’t a fluke, back to back wins. Nuno!!

The Bad: 3 weeks until another league game!!

The Ugly: Turner. We need a new no.1. Let’s hope Sa comes to join Nuno.

Special Mention: The atmosphere was phenomenal. Everyone but Turner had a great game.

The Last Time we played (Blackpool (A) - a 4-1 loss): Yates with the late consolation.

Hennessy

Williams Cook McKenna Toffolo

Scarpa Fewster O’Brien Colback

Dennis Surridge

Wow…that is an awful side!! 😂

Proposed Lineup:

Vlachula

Williams Omobamidele Worrall Toffolo

Mangala Yates

Aguilera

CHO Wood Elanga

Subs:

Hennessy, Murillo, Aina, Montiel, Tavares, Danilo, Dominguez, Gardner, Osong

We might as well rest a few. Whilst it would be good to stay in the cup, a 3 week rest is huge at this point in the season. I’m sure the African lads don’t fancy ruining their AFCON dreams as well.

Injuries:

Aurier, Awoniyi, Felipe and MGW (possibly).

Laughing @ Derby:

Turner, Boly, Niakhate, McKenna, Kouyate, Sangare, Santos, Origi

Form:

Forest (H) - W2 D0 L4 GF8 GA10 - 15th (17th in the Home Form table)
Blackpool (A) - W1 D1 L4 GF8 GA10 - 8th (18th in the L1 Away Form table)

Prediction:

2-0 to Forest. Aguilera and a late sub to seal the deal.

A bit light this one, but hard to get as motivated for Blackpool after our last two results!!

Final Words:

COYRs!!!!

We do like making things hard for ourselves, don’t we?

Think we had may as well go straight to penalties.
Neither team looks like scoring.

The officiating is absolutely awful across all divisions, the referee seems to think he has to book somebody, regardless of whether an offence has been committed or not. Really poor.
It is possible that a foul can be committed that doesn’t warrant a booking, these guys don’t seem to comprehend that concept.

A win is a win, but that turned into a really difficult watch. We got there in the end, but full credit to Blackpool, they made one hell of a match of it, also congrats to the Reds for having the bottle to see this through.
Onto Brizzie in the next round.
