As we enter the SJR/INEOS/Trawlers Ltd era, a lot more focus will be placed on better value for money on transfers as opposed to signing star names and/or who the manager demands. With this - and the areas of concern in our squad - in mind, what sensible signings from other Premier League clubs do you think could be good business for United? Let’s limit it to a max of 4 per team.
For me:
Aston Villa - Douglas Luiz, Ezri Konsa, Matty Cash, Emiliano Martinez
Bournemouth - Dominic Solanke
Brentford - Aaron Hickey, Bryan Mbeumo
Brighton - Pervis Estupinan, Julio Enciso, Kaoru Mitoma
Crystal Palace - Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise, Marc Guehi
Everton - Jarrad Branthwaite
Fulham - João Palhinha
Nottingham Forest - Morgan Gibbs-White, Gonzalo Montiel, Nicolás Domínguez
Wolves - Pedro Neto, João Gomes, Hwang Hee-Chan
It says so much about United’s god awful structure and recruitment team that I could probably have chosen 10 players from Villa (a team who were in the Championship less than 5 years ago) and at least three from the likes of Wolves and Palace. All these players would easily improve our squad either in the first eleven or for squad depth.
In terms of players outside the Premier League, I believe the following players would improve us massively and they aren’t yet considered superstars:
Lois Openda,
Takefusa Kubo
Martin Zubimendi
Youssef Fofana
Antonio Silva
Mikel Merino
Oihan Sancet
Jeremie Frimpong
Arnau Martinez

Think we'd probably be better off looking abroad if we want some sensible value for money transfers. No club in the PL is going to sell to us for cheap.
Looking at Nice (Ratcliffe's other team) they seem to buy mainly from France but have also bought from Italy, Romania, Russia, Turkey, Switzerland and England over the past 2 summers. Obviously we have more money and a bigger pull but it would be nice to see us look for some lesser known talent, or just some known talent in the 23-28 age range who don't cost a bomb and need huge wages.

Manchester has a bigger pull than Nice?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Reportedly Jim wants to see more value in the market than we've seen under the Glazers. This could mean the end of high value transfers unless it's warranted. I would favour this, we are renowned for creating stars through careful nurture. Having money should not automatically mean we buy the finished product although we will have to wait and see how having more funds available, than say Nice, Jim's new team purchase better than their predessors have managed.
We need a greater balance between low value potential and high value finished products. We just can't afford transfer failures going forwards.

Yes, Manchester United have a bigger pull than OGC Nice. If players don’t want to move to Manchester the area then they’re probably not suitable anyway.

It was a bit tongue in cheek.

Everton - Jarrad Branthwaite
Fulham - João Palhinha
--------------------------------------------
If Everton were to demand a club record transfer fee for Branthwaite as has been said they will then those two alone would likely cost you the best part of £150 million.
There aren't too many players from the Premier League on that list we wouldn't be paying a premium for.

It all depends on the quality. Many thought we were overpaying for Rooney, but we weren't.

Right now I’d love to see Olise in a United shirt, can’t see it happening
Enciso is a very exciting player with a great shot on him but he’s been injured most of the season I think

The obvious one from Everton is Onana.
Not to be confused with his basketcase namesake between the stick.

I think United have simply over paid for players.
Players like Antony had done nothing to warrant their price tag. Hojlund also so very early in his career that his price tag was never justified, or at least should have been structured very differently with significant add-ons.
Someone like Casemiro is in the tail end of his career, so at £70m and huge wages, it was over paying again.
Utds problem seems to be that they are not buying high value players, they are simply paying high values for players that are not worth it. You've created this expectation where other clubs bend you over, and agents/players do the same for wages.
