Debutant Young 'uns gave a really good...

Account of themselves!

Didn't look out of place.

Starting with Gilchrist' strong 1-on-1 intuitions, assertiveness and bailing out senior players at some points. Generally assured In and out of possession.

12 year old looking Golding' cameo...demostrated his box instincts (carried over from youth level), and keen eye for a goal. Perilously close to debut goal, and perhaps that miss away from potential further starting opportunities in future rounds aganst lower league sides.
Bear in mind Gilchrist received a starting opportunity based off a last second excellent goal saving tackle (direct memorable moments/actions stick in the mind of managers).
That's how tough academy players have got it and how unfair the level-playing field is. Fine margins.

Academy have no margin for error, whereas (big) money 🗑signings get endless leeway.
Despise that way of practice amongst managers but that is the reality.

Washington' box movements, ability to create space (making himself available) and intrinsic (poaching) feel anticpating where the ball would land from shots or rebounds was superb. Bright.

Vastly inexperienced kids with better instincts than certain senior counterparts. I just hope going forward (wherever they end up) their individuality strengths doesn't become suppressed.

Maintain the Encouragement Poch!
That glancing header from Broja was a thing of beauty (Almost immediately replicated the same finish seconds later from Mudryk cross).
Long time since scored one of them from open play.

Would have done Broja the world of good for his confidence and momentum into the next matches

Absolute joke Maatsen didn’t start. Hopefully he gets his move to Dortmund. This will be another transfer we’ll regret in a few years time.

Poch claimed that Maatsen has a back injury and was only fit for the bench.
We all know the real reason was due to impending move to Dortmund. Making up the numbers at this point (Someone else in the academy could have taken his place).

Poch has wasted 6 months of his career for no valid reason.
