Goal Difference.

How important is it?

Of course, it’s very important from a literal point of view.

We know only too well from 2012. Other teams have had similar tragedies.

But I’m more focusing on how you judge a team by their goal difference. If you look at the league right now, we are clearly not at the top table.

We’re on 0 ffs.

Arsenal looking like the top dogs.

I’ll take that.

In Uniteds last 101 PL games they have a goal difference of 15
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And in the same time period those 101 games they also won a trophy and reached another final.
Congratulations on the Beyonce concerts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You sound happy with your lot. I'm pleased for you.

I was supporting United in Division 2, and if they went lower I'd still support them.
Obviously a blow not to have won the league since 2013 but I'll take solace in the other four trophies we've won in the meantime

Nice story.

All that experience and wisdom yet you cannot respond to a factual statistic about your goal difference, on a thread about Goal Differnce, without going straight to "our history is better than yours". I'd expect that of some twatty arm chair internet fan, which you clearly are not.

His comment made me laugh, I grew up watching that SAF United side sweep all and sundry. Never did I think they would reach a point where they are boasting about winning the league cup and even weirder, a lost FA cup final

Who boasts about losing a cup final, faaaack me, United really have sunk to new depths

Exactly. It was a defensive bitter response from a United fan who probably just watched Spurs dismantle Villa and Liverpool kids go toe to toe with City and is hurting, unable to respond in a grown up way to a fact that would be concerning for most teams, especially over such a long period.

You cast the net looking for a bite, I was glad to oblige.
As I alluded to in an earlier post, I'm not concerned.
All of the big clubs have peaks and troughs.
Whilst we've been in a trough for a few years we've still been picking up trophies, it's what successful clubs do.
Didn't watch the Spurs game by the way.

It wasn't a bite comment, you just got all defensive.

It's actually quite a revealing fact, IMO, especially as its run over over 100 games, and you did pretty well last season. 0, +15, 0.

The answer being that if Rashford is in a purple patch then United tend to do well, when he is a schitt brown patch United struggle to score.

They need a top striker

We would have never sold them Kane. But i wonder if there is any restriction on him being sold on to a PL club in the short term. I think we have first refusal but wouldnt surprise me if Levy had some clause limiting re-sale
